“All of those are mine too,” he whispers, removing his fingers from inside me and shoving them into his mouth. “Get dressed so we can leave.”

“I was liking the idea of being in bed all day,” I respond, looking longingly at the bed.

“You’re the one that said you need to get back to the sorority house.”

Just the mention of my sorority sisters, and I rush into the bathroom, making quick work of cleaning up and getting dressed. I’m downstairs and ready to go within twenty minutes.

“Lead the way my lady?” Samuel does a mock bow, swinging the front door open and motioning for me to head out of the door.

When I return to the sorority house, I feel empty. I should be used to his hot and cold moods by now, but I’m not. I’m tired and sore, and even though I’ve bathed, the only thing that sounds remotely good is a hot shower. But then I remember the ink covering my body. I’m not supposed to wash it off.

“Hey Avery.” Alec’s voice startles me. He’s sitting in one of the patio chairs on the front porch.

“Alec. What are you doing here?”

“When you didn’t show up to Donner’s class, I got worried,” he says with a shy smile.

“Sorry. I wasn’t feeling well.” I look around awkwardly. “I just went to the campus clinic.”

“I’m sorry. Maybe we should go inside?”

“Oh. I guess.” I unlock the front door and step inside slowly.

Alec follows behind me and closes the door. When he turns to face me, we collide. He grips my waist and tugs me forward, mashing his lips against mine. I squeak in surprise and press my hands against his chest to push myself away. His hands get tangled in my shirt, pulling it up to reveal the black ink scrawled across my abdomen.

“What the fuck is that?” Alec shouts as he grips my shirt and lifts it completely. “Who the fuck wrote all over you?”

I wrestle my shirt free of his hands, but he’s much stronger than I am, and the shirt ends up tearing.

“I-It’s none of your business,” I stammer.

“You’re my girlfriend, Avery! Of course it’s my fucking business!” He reaches out, and as he rips the rest of the shirt away, his eyes widen with anger.

I try my best to keep myself covered with my hands and the torn remnants of my shirt.

“We went on two dates. That’s doesn’t make me your girlfriend, Alec,” I state firmly.

He lifts his gaze, and I know I’m in trouble. He latches onto my hands and starts dragging me toward the stairs. I have no choice but to follow him. I stumble a few times, banging my knees against the wood until we reach my bedroom on the second floor.

He pushes me toward my bed, and I scramble on top of it, trying to get as far away from him as possible.

Alec was supposed to be the perfect gentleman. He was supposed to be the white knight.

“Who’s S. Jacobs, Avery?” His question is more like a hiss.

“You need to leave,” I tell him through clenched teeth.

He’s quiet, and then his eyes widen. “Samuel Jacobs! Are you fucking Professor Jacobs?”

“You need to leave,” I say again.

He leans over me and grips the waistband of my jeans. He wrenches them open, sending the button flying across the room, and then roughly tugs them down my legs. His hand grips my underwear, tearing the fabric, revealing more of Samuel’s makeshift tattoo.

“Is this why you missed Donner’s class? Because you were too busy fucking your math professor?” He sneers at me. “You’re a whore.”

I lift my legs and kick one of them into his gut. He stumbles back, but immediately, I know I made a mistake. He charges toward me, grabs my legs, and pulls me down.

“Is that what you want, Avery? To be fucked like a dirty whore?” He fumbles with his belt until it comes free, then unbuttons his pants and reaches inside.

No. This cannot be happening.
