ANDI

To say I had a restless night’s sleep would be an understatement, and it’s all Nolan’s fault.

I drag myself out of bed and head toward the bathroom. I don’t even bother to shower. I took one yesterday, and if I get my way, Nolan will finally give me exactly what I want: an earth-shattering orgasm.

“Morning, Andi.”

I squint and notice my dad heading in through the front door. “Shit! Am I that late?”

I pick up the pace and head directly for the kitchen in search of something quick to eat. I grab the first things I see: cold pizza from a few days ago and a bag of chocolate popcorn with marshmallows. Breakfast of champions.

“Calm down. No, you’re not late. The roads on and off the mountain have been closed. I need to message Nolan and let him know.”

A mischievous smile crosses my face. “Aww, that’s too bad.”

I shove a handful of popcorn into my mouth as I pull a travel mug down from the cabinet.

“Is that what you’re having for breakfast? You don’t have to rush. I’m sure the schedule has to be rewritten. Nolan planned to use the hiking trails further down the mountain this week, but he won’t be getting any of his fancy film equipment down there with the roads closed.”

“Meh. I still don’t want to be late. Helen might need me for something. I’m sure with the changes in the schedule, the costumes will need to be rearranged as well.” I shove the last part of the pizza in my mouth as I close the lid on my travel mug, then head over to my dad, planting a kiss on his cheek. “Catch you later, Pops. Make sure not to forget to get the generators started. You know how the power loves to go off in this place when we get heavy snow.”

“I won’t. Aren’t you going to eat something else?”

I grab a banana on my way out of the kitchen. I’ve been trying to eat better, after all.

“Happy?” I raise the banana over my head and give him a quick wave before heading out the door toward the elevators.

As I wait for it to arrive, the lights quickly flicker over my head.

“Not taking the chance of getting stuck in that,” I mumble to myself as I turn to my left and head down the stairs.

And Pops was worried about what I ate for breakfast. I’ll need the fuel for all the stairs I’ll be climbing today.

As I make my way down the stairs, I wonder what Ivy has been up to. I haven’t seen her since I caught her and Ford in the spa yesterday. I hope her kitty is happier than mine.

As I push my way through the door for the stairs on the ground floor, the lights flicker again.

“Nope, not today,” I say to the empty lobby as I go in search of Nolan and the rest of the production team. If I can’t be of service to Helen, then I know I can service Nolan.

When I turn the corner, I glimpse Ivy and Ford waiting for the elevator.

“Hey Ivy!” I shout, but neither of them turns in my direction.

Instead, they both step into the elevator. Clearly, she has more important things to do.

As soon as the sentence leaves my mouth, the power goes out, plunging the entire lobby into darkness.

Shit! I knew this would happen. Not wasting any time, I pull my cell phone out and dial my dad.

“I know what you’re going to say.”

“No, you don’t know anything, Pops. Did you start the generators?”

“Why are you so panicked? What’s wrong?” Worry creeps into my father’s voice.

“Ivy. Ivy is stuck in the elevator.” Automatically, I pace in the dimly lit lobby.

“Fuck. Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’ll get them up and running in no time.”
