“Do you forgive me?” Derek asked.

“Of course, I forgive you. Derek, I love you too.”

He closed the distance between them, slipping one hand around her waist and one hand into her hair. He drew her lips toward his, and a firework went off in her chest.

How was it possible after all these years, that he still made her feel like a giddy teenager? She wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned into the kiss.

Her heart hammered in her chest, and his breath quickened too.

He buried his face in her neck and whispered, “I’m so glad you came back.”

“Me too.” Heat spread from her lips down to her toes and back up again.

She held him close, ignoring the people passing by. After what felt like hours and yet was still over too soon, he pulled back slightly and kissed her forehead.

“All right! Move along folks! Nothing to see here!” Adam waved his arms, shooing away the people nearby. He threw an arm around Kylie’s shoulder. “Thank goodness you took him back. He was insufferable.”

She laughed as Derek gave him a shove then took her hand, and they melted into the crowd. Together.
