I didn’t know who moved first, but all of a sudden my hands were cupping her face and in an instant our lips crashed together in a frenzied kiss that scorched my skin.

She tasted like strawberries. Her lips silky and perfect as they moved against mine. She pressed her body close. She fit perfectly against me, the soft curves of her meeting every hard plane of me. Her hands fisted the lapels of my jacket, trying to draw herself even nearer. She let out a small noise deep in her throat and it drove me absolutely insane.

My hands traveled down to her hips, gripping them tightly as I stepped forward, guiding her backward until she hit the end of the mahogany desk. We never broke our kiss, our tongues exploring as I lifted her up onto the desktop, knocking things over and sending shiny golden pens clacking onto the floor.

Her knees got in the way, her dress holding them tightly together. Impatient, I pushed her dress up just enough that the slit met her thighs and she wrapped her legs around my hips, making me groan.

She would be my undoing.

Her hands got lost in my hair, tugging and pulling as she continued to kiss me in a way I had never been kissed before. It was as if nothing else existed but me and her and I relished in the little world of our own making.

Then, someone cleared their throat loudly, shattering our fiery bubble of bliss.

Ellie pulled away with a gasp. Her eyes wild and lips red and swollen as she stared toward the door. It felt like I couldn’t catch my breath, my ribs ached.

“Knox,” Ellie yelped, pushing me aside as she jumped off the table, fixing her dress and wiping her mouth.

I turned slowly to where Knox was standing in the doorway of the study, his arms crossed over his chest, jaw tight.

He stared at me, hardly acknowledging Ellie.

Ellie’s head whipped between the two of us as we stared at each other in silence. Then she mumbled something about needing to go before she ran from the room.

I wanted to stop her, but didn’t. My mind was still a hazy fog of lust and confusion as I came down from the high that was Ellie Liles.

Knox frowned at me, his sharp gray eyes narrowing. “Do you know what you’re doing here?” he asked, a low warning in his tone.

I rubbed the back of my neck, shaking my head, feeling almost delirious. “No, I don’t think I do.”
