“Occasionally, that will mean you going to stay with Vallu.”

“Not now or when she has the baby. I am not going to put her at risk... ever.”

He sighed. “You can, and you will. That or you will have to go stay at the stronghold, and I will carry you there and drop you next to my mother if I have to.”

“If I am not pregnant, it doesn’t matter. We aren’t so firmly bonded that my death will kill you.”

He paused. “You are very wrong about that. Do you know why crime syndicates have started flooding Daycross?”

“Oh, because I am the only multi-morph born in the last fifty years with power transfer capabilities. I am not going to live in a cage because of it.”

He growled. She snarled, and he came loose. His fingers slid between them, and he muttered, “Are you holding onto it?”

She blushed. “If I am, it isn’t on purpose.”

He sighed and sat up against the headboard, pulling her onto his lap. “I want you safe.”

“I won’t ever be safe. I will wear a thousand faces and wield a thousand powers, and then, I will die.” She smiled. “Rough estimate, but that is what I was born for.”

His arms tightened. “I don’t want you changing shape anymore.”

“Right. So, you won’t walk through shadows either, right? If I can’t use my activation, it is only fair that you give it up.”

He scowled. “It is important to my work as a reaper.”

She shrugged. “I know, but if I have to be massively uncomfortable and driven insane, you are going to come with me.”

He paused. “You have tried before.”

“Of course, I have. When I was first fostered, I thought they would love me more if I was a normal girl. The beatings started almost immediately, and Lyric gave me some blood at school, and she helped me see when attacks were coming. By myself, I am helpless. With a single drop of blood, I can protect myself.”

He sighed. “Fine, but will you restrain it to females?”

She blinked in shock as he gave in. “Uh, yeah. If I can get my kit, I know which are male and which are female.”

“Where did you get that kit?”

“Not telling.” She smiled. “You aren’t going to fight me on this?”

“No. If you stick to female forms, you won’t injure yourself or cut off the possibility of a pregnancy.”

She blinked. “Right. You are really focused on that.”

He shrugged. “It’s why we both go mindless. It is certainly not for our health.”

She looked at the expanse of his shoulders and the thick bands of muscle. “You seem to have weathered it fine.”

He chuckled. “Only because I had a mate who wasn’t completely insane for me. Surprisingly, I did exhibit control and caution. No one got hurt.”

“Right. You weren’t on the receiving end of the spanking.” She pouted.

He let out a soft huff. “I can kiss it better.”

She blinked. “Not necessary. I like having a reason to be irritated with you.”

He looked at her, and his eyes glowed red.

She muttered, “Aw, hell.” She jerked herself free from him and bolted for the door.Don’t run. Never run, don’t run!She yelped when his arms came around her, and he lifted her up against the smooth wood wall.

His muzzle was against her breast, and she was twisting against him. Liquid heat started to run down her inner thighs. She was mindless by the time he was inside her, and when he carried her back to the bedroom, she let him heal the sensitive skin on her backside. It was the least she could do for all his efforts. She was really going to have to get a list of requirements for her position as his mistress.

Bed bunny was already confirmed.
