“Why are you awake?”

Jackson smiled. “Because I wanted to surprise you with a little treat.”

“Is this part of your dates?”

“I wanted to take you back to where everything changed.”

Oleander tilted her head like she was thinking about it. “Oh, the coffee shop?”

“Yeah,” he grinned. “I know we’ve been busy and rushed, so this seemed like a better idea.”

Oleander smiled. “I can’t believe you’ve been planning so many dates.”

“Like I said, I really wanted to spend all my time with you.”

“I love it,” she whispered and took another sip. “I feel like I’m being wooed.”

Jackson’s eyes widened at the word. “Why didn’t I think of it that way?”

She laughed and leaned her head against his chest. “I don’t know why I decided to take this early morning class.”

Jackson rubbed a hand down her back, his lips pressed to the top of her head briefly. “Are you working with kids this early?”

“No, thank god,” she laughed and nuzzled into his chest. “I have an older group that comes in on some weekends and early mornings on other days.”

“That actually sounds fun.”

Oleander straightened up, and took another sip of her drink. This time, she let out a tiny moan. “It’s a great workout, but when I’m so sleepy, it’s not fun.”

“Did I keep you out too late?”

“Absolutely. This is totally your fault.”

Jackson laughed and kissed Oleander’s forehead, “Come on, let me give you a ride.”

“You’re sure you’re not going to be late?”

“I promise, now get in.” He opened the passenger side door and once Oleander was in, he walked around to the other side and slid in behind the wheel. Jackson turned on the car and handed his unlocked phone to Oleander. “Put in the address.”

And for the next twenty minutes as he drove her to work, they talked about her dance classes, about working with different age groups and why she enjoyed it so much. Oleander gave him a lazy kiss when he dropped her off and Jackson drove back home, where he proceeded to fall asleep fully clothed till his alarm woke him up for his class at the dojo.

Even though he was tired, Jackson felt like it was worth it.

Because he got to spend his morning with the woman who was slowly working her way into his life. And his heart.
