“I’m only letting you do this while I change.”

He smirked. “Okay.”

“I’ll meet you outside.”

“And here I thought you’d invite me into the locker rooms.”

“I hope those thoughts will keep you going till I’m ready.” Oleander grinned, patted his ass as she walked out of the studio. “I’ll meet you out front in 15.”

Jackson carried Oleander’s things and put them in the back of his car. He leaned against the side and scrolled through his messages as he waited for her. There was a text from Mindy, reminding him about the party and not to buy a gift. A group chat with his siblings had them bitching and moaning about Keleigh’s party and Jackson sighed as he ignored their messages. Jackson set a calendar reminder and looked up as the door opened to reveal Oleander.

Today, she was dressed in cut-offs that were frayed at the edges, a faded blue band tee and classic Vans. Her hair was open and ruffled, unlike how it was during dance class, and she had a gorgeous glow. Jackson looked at his clothes—pressed chinos and full-sleeved shirt, rolled up to his elbows— and sighed. “I feel very overdressed.”

Oleander smiled. “I like this look on you.”

“It’s called office chic,” Jackson said, blushing at her compliment. “Where are we going?”

“Somewhere special.”

“Did I tell you that I’m not a big fan of surprises?”

“Whaaaaaat?” Oleander gasped as she tossed the rest of her things in the backseat before climbing into the passenger seat. “How can you not like surprises?”

“They sometimes go wrong and make me really uncomfortable.”

“It’s notthatkind of surprise, though.”

“I’ll take your word for it.” Jackson buckled himself in and leaned across the console, smiling when Oleander met him halfway for a quick kiss. Like they’d done this a million times before.

It felt natural. And fucking great.
