“I told you if we put the trampoline there that someone was going to end up jumping from one to another. I was thinking it would be Noah, but apparently Katie-girl decided to do it.”
“She did what?” Keith exclaimed as his face filled the screen. “Katelyn!” he scolded.
“Auntie already spanked me!” Katie informed him.
“Good,” Keith grumbled. “You’re lucky that’s all that happened. You could have hurt yourself.”
“I told you,” Jeff repeated, still with an edge of humor in his voice.
“If you saw what I saw, you would not find any humor in this whatsoever,” Rose scolded.
“You’re right. Let me see the damage,” Jeff said, suddenly sobering.
Katie was confused. “There is no damage. I’m fine.”
“I want to see the damage Auntie’s spoon did to your butt. We need to make sure she did a thorough job.”
Now it was Rose’s turn to roll her eyes. “You know I did.”
“Show me,” Jeff repeated.
“Ugh,” Katie groaned as she felt her body heat in embarrassment. She knew she wasn’t going to get out of this and since Rose still held the phone, Katie rolled onto her tummy and pulled the blanket off of her, exposing her bare bottom. She hid her face but she felt Rose’s body shift, likely giving Jeff and possibly Keith a better view of her sore bottom.
“Very nice uniform color,” Jeff praised. “Looks like you’ll feel that for a little while, babygirl. Did you learn your lesson?”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Good. You need to keep my girl safe. I miss her.”
“I will, Daddy, I promise.”
“And if she doesn’t, she’ll earn a lot more than what she got today,” Auntie chimed in, making Katie cringe. She didn’t want more than she got, that was for dang sure.
