She smiled at Avery. How had she gone so long without her best friend? “Tell me more about your cabin.”

“Absolutely.” Avery’s face shone with a holy joy that couldn’t be denied. “Don’t worry.” She laughed. “You’ll have a five-hour flight to listen to me chatter!”

Addisyn tipped her head back and joined her sister’s laughter. What a wonder it was to be able to laugh again—fearless and free.

Her cell phone bleeped in her pocket. A text from Darius.

How are you doing?

She smiled. Darius would always be a part of her life. She knew that now. Whether she lived in New York or Colorado, Chicago or Vancouver, the bond between them would never—could never—be broken.

She typed just three words back to him.

I am fantastic!!!

She was with Avery. She was in the arms of God. And Darius held her in his heart.

The gates opened. The people surged through, Addisyn keeping a firm grip on Avery’s hand to make sure they weren’t separated in the throng. To make sure they were never separated again.

All was well.
