He chuckled. “Okay. Jungle is out, then. What about… Eh, Tara can you help me out here?”

Tara lowered herself to the ground, sitting on her bum next to them. She stretched out her legs in front of her, resting her back against the pink wall. “I think it’s perfect. If Frankie doesn’t want this room, I’ll take it.”

Frankie huffed, “It’s my room, Mommy!”

“So you like it?” he asked.

“I love it! I never had a princess bed before.”

He finally let go of the breath he was holding. “Yeah?”

Frankie nodded. “Yes.”

He watched his daughter walk over to the unicorn closet, opening the doors. “Wow! Look Mommy!”

Owen and Tara laughed at Frankie’s squeals while pulling all the clothes out and throwing them on the bed to have a better look. He sat down next to Tara and also rested his back against the wall.

Sitting side by side, watching their daughter happily bounce around gave him a feeling of peace inside that he never felt before.

He felt Tara looking at him and it took every bit of willpower not to get lost in the moment and look back into her gorgeous eyes.

“Thank you for everything, Owen. I know I can’t ever make up for the past, but I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Frankie settles in with you and your family and that she’s happy here.”

He nodded in silence.

“Where’s your room, Mommy?”

He watched Tara’s cheeks pink. “Oh, eh… I guess I’ll be staying with you for a while…”

Owen knew he was being an ass for not immediately telling Tara he also got a room for her. He wondered if he would get over this petty shit soon. He hated people who acted like a scorned child and it didn’t sit well with him how he treated Tara.

Sooner or later, Frankie would pick up on his prickly vibe towards her mother. That shit wasn’t healthy. Owen got up from the floor and held out his hand for Tara to take.

She sat in stunned silence, eyeing his hand.

“Come, I want to show you something.”

He quickly pulled her from the floor and let go of her hand the moment she got on her feet. When would their touches stop feeling like a light bolt electrified him?

“We’ll be right back, Fluff. If you need us, we’ll be down the hall. Don’t go downstairs, okay?”

Frankie hummed without looking up from coloring on a white sheet on top of her pink desk.

He passed the bathroom and opened the door to Tara’s room. “It still needs a lick of paint and a new carpet, but Adam and I made sure we got everything out of here so we can make it yours—if you’d want it, that is.”

Tara followed him inside the barren room. “Thank you for doing all this, Owen. It’s too much.”

He shrugged while purposely keeping his back to her. “It’s all for Frankie. I know she would want you to stay here with her. It’s just for the first few months while Frankie and I are getting to know each other.”

His muscles in his back froze when Tara hugged him from behind. His heart raced against his chest as she slithered her hands over his chest, her large tits pressing against his back. If he wasn’t mistaken, he felt her press her soft lips against his T-shirt, right in between his shoulder blades.

“I will never forget this, O. Thank you…”

His hairs raised in the back of his neck as her warmth surrounded him. He didn’t dare to make a move, as his dick grew hard behind his zipper. Their intimate moment passed as fleetly as it came as she unwrapped herself from his frame.

She left him standing in a daze in her barren bedroom. He heard her soft voice as she talked to Frankie. He couldn’t believe he actually thought it was a great idea to have Tara around 24/7.

He already fought every fiber in his soul that urged him to let her back into his heart. She once had meant the world to him and what he had with Tara, he’d never found again with anyone else.
