Caitlin entered the kitchen from the patio and said, “Come with me, Tara. Chloe is already upstairs with her cousin Mira who’ll do your hair.”

“M-My hair?”

Owen and Frankie got behind Tara and Frankie tapped Tara on her back. She turned around and her eyes instantly watered as she saw Frankie holding out a little black velvet box with a pear-shaped diamond ring inside.

Owen had gone down on one knee and said, “My sweet Tara. As I thought about what I wanted to say to you and even asked our girl for help, she said to me something that I will never forget in my life. Frankie told me that it shouldn’t matter what I said, because ‘Mommy already knows that Daddy loves her’. I hope that you know that this is true. I hope that I can show you how much you mean to me, from this day forward. I know the road we needed to take to get here has been long and hard. But we’re finally here. We’re finally together as a family. I love you, Tara Houston. Will you please do me the honor in becoming my wife?”

“Yes!” Tara said and she immediately kissed him.

“Yes!!” Frankie shouted and ran outside with the ring box still in her hand.

“She said yes!” Frankie yelled into the backyard that exploded with people cheering.

“She got that from you,” Tara said.

He grinned and said, “I know. Maybe you have better luck next time…”

“Next time?”

He pulled Tara in and whispered against her ear, “One day… I hope soon, I’m going to see my pregnant wife walk around this very kitchen….”

Tara bit her lip and said, “Eh… I think that day is coming sooner than you think…”

“Huh?”

She leaned in and whispered in his ear, “Guess what? You’re going to be a daddy again…”

“No way?” he whispered as he felt the blood drain from his face.

She giggled and held his face in between the palms of her hands. “It’s true. With all that had happened I forgot the pill. Remember that first time after your test result came in? I think that’s when it happened…”

“I’m going to every appointment and buy every book there is about pregnancies. You’re going to get so sick of me.”

She smiled and said, “Not a chance. I can’t wait to have you go baby crazy.”

“How far are you and—”

She whispered, “Thirteen weeks, we’re having our first appointment tomorrow. I was going to surprise you.”

“Are you guys ready to get married?” Caitlin asked as she entered the kitchen again.

“Yeah. We’re ready. For everything,” Owen said.

Tara gave him a wink. “Yes, we are.”
