“Nope,” his mother added with a smile as they walked into his parent’s office suite. “And as word starts to spread about Kat and Mike holding their wedding here, there’s going to be a lot of press.”

“And you want me to handle that?” Austin asked, looking between his mother and father.

“It would be the first passing of the baton for me,” his father answered. “This new celebrity and social media world are for the young, not the old guys like me. I think people are going to enjoy seeing your youthful, handsome face way more than mine,” he chuckled.

“And it has already started,” his mother added. “Did you see that Kat posted on her social media about The Oxford this weekend? She named us as her venue, but didn’t say when it was happening.” His mom had a big smile on her face. “This all happened yesterday! Jane explained to me just how many people see her posts and that having Kat mention The Oxford is bigger than being mentioned in a magazine. This is all new to me, but Jane seemed thrilled about it. She mentioned that you asked Kat point blank about posting, and that was why it went up this weekend.”

“Well,” Austin smiled, “that’s sweet of her to give me props; she’s obviously a team player. She did 99% of the work out there to make Kat and Mike happy, but I’m glad I could help in some small way,” he winked. “My job in L.A. seemed to be taking care of Molly,” he said, making a face at his parents.

“Define taking care of Molly,” his mother laughed, “or do I not want to know.”

“Oh please, nothing like that,” Austin shot back. “The thing was that Molly suggested I fly out with Jane to meet Kat and Mike, just to get some face time. I thought I’d be working with Jane, getting everything set for the sampling, but Molly had other ideas. I left Jane solo setting up everything, and truthfully… I didn’t seem to have a choice in the matter, but I felt badly.”

Mrs. Drew looked at her son, “That is unfortunate as arranging everything for that tasting involved a lot of work. Jane say anything to you about it?”

“No,” Austin said, shaking his head, “she’s not like that. She handled everything on her own, like a pro.”

His mother watched Austin as he spoke, sensing something different about him. There was a softness to his voice when he talked about Jane, a caring tone. She didn’t dare say anything, because she knew Austin would deny it, but she saw something she hadn’t seen before.

“Well,” his mother responded, “in all fairness, Molly was the one who wanted you to go, and Jane can certainly hold her own with clients, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Seems to me that Molly just wanted a little alone time with you.”

“I know,” Austin shrugged, “I’m not interested in Molly, at least not like that. We’re friends and that’s it,” he added, looking at his parents.

“Well,” his mom said, looking at her son with knowing eyes, “it will all work out, just like it always does for you.” She winked, wondering if maybe Jane had caught her son’s attention. “But, in the meantime, let me get up to the office. Why don’t we meet at the restaurant in about an hour?”

“Great,” Austin replied, “that will give me time to stop by Jane’s office and catch up on things.

“Oh,” his dad said, “she’s not in today.”

“She’s not in? Since when does Jane miss a day of work?” Austin asked, trying not to sound bummed.

“She didn’t have any meetings today, so I told her to work from home since she’s been going a mile a minute for the last few weeks.”

“Oh,” Austin nodded, feeling let down. He had been excited to see her today after not seeing her over the weekend. “Well, then, I guess I’ll check in with her tomorrow. No big deal,” he said, forcing a smile as he left to go to his office.

But Olivia Drew sensed it was a big deal to her son.
