Lacy straightened, suddenly alert. Why would he wink at her? Late night? Her eyes widened and her heart raced as images of last night flooded her mind. Jonah pounding into Candy over the counter. Locking eyes with Jonah as the couple both came. Her face flushed with heat. Oh God, did Candy know too?

Jonah gave her a knowing smile as she met his gaze. Her skin felt like she would combust into flames.

“Don’t tease the girl, Jonah. She obviously hasn’t had enough coffee to deal with your shit.” Candy popped a piece of fruit in her mouth. “I’ve got to get going. I work this afternoon. I had fun last night. A pleasure as always.”

She stood up and sauntered toward the couch. Her eyes were a light green and kind. Lacy hadn’t seen her face last night. “Sorry I can’t stick around to see if your new kitty has claws. But it was a pleasure to meet you, kitty.”

Lacy nodded and sipped more coffee. The woman slipped out the door and it closed with a finality. Leaving her and a half naked Jonah all alone.Oh, my God.

Lacy wasn’t ready to deal with Jonah this morning and whatever the hell last night had been. Maybe if she didn’t bring it up, he’d forget about it, and they’d pretend she hadn’t seen him pounding into a woman and watched both of them orgasm.

Under her embarrassment, frankly, she couldn’t help being a little jealous. She closed her eyes and savored her coffee. It had looked like they both enjoyed the encounter. Sex wasn’t a big part of her life. Her one time in college had been an eye-opening experience, but not in a good way. The only enjoyable part about it had been because her crush had finally seen her, but she definitely hadn’t enjoyed it as much as Candy did.

Her friends seemed to enjoy even the idea of sex. Not Lacy. Maybe Lacy was just built wrong.

She opened her eyes. At some point, Jonah had crossed the room to sit in the chair near her. His bare feet rested on the coffee table and his gaze stared straight ahead instead of at her. Small favors.

“What were you thinking about?” He drank his smoothie like he really didn’t care what her answer would be.

She narrowed her eyes at him and drank more of her coffee. She seriously wanted to hiss at him too this morning. Not only had she not been tired at all when she climbed into bed last night, the dreams she did have may have been more vivid than usual. Likewaymore vivid. It wasn’t every day she caught a sex show before bed, and it had leaked into her dreams.Jonahhad leaked into her dreams. Not Logan. It would have been okay if it had been Logan. But it had been gravelly-voiced Jonah and it hadn’t been Candy leaning over the counter. Heat flooded her cheeks.

Not going to think about that.

Plus the damn blender woke her up again.

“You going to make me do all the talking today?” His gaze swung to her and she raised her eyebrow at him, daring him.

He set his drink on the coffee table and leaned forward with his elbows on his knees. He held her gaze. “I promise not to have sex in the kitchen again. I thoroughly bleached the counter this morning. Are we good?”

Her heart clattered in her chest. That was it? No talk about her watching? No, “what the hell was that” when she watched him come and he kept her pinned in place like she’d been part of the experience? Not to mention how her body reacted during the whole thing, which she really hadn’t wanted to discuss. So instead, she just released the breath she’d been holding.

She finished her coffee and put her bare feet on the cold wood floor. She snatched her feet back under her. Too cold to get more coffee.

He chuckled low and stood, took her mug from her and went into the kitchen. He filled it with coffee and brought it to her. She carefully took it from him and murmured, “Thank you.”

Returning to his seat, he didn’t break her gaze. “Is this an every morning thing?”

She took a sip and looked in her cup. Sophie wasn’t here. Had Candy been drinking the coffee too or had he made the coffee knowing she’d come out? Warmth spread through her, but she refused to smile at this man. “If you insist on using the blender, yes.”

He nodded and finished his smoothie. “Noted.”

Maybe they could just pretend the whole sex thing had never happened.
