“Nice to meet you, man.” Logan’s handshake was firm and brief. “It’ll be nice to have another guy around.”

Jonah glanced between the two. Lacy was tense, but Logan didn’t have a care in the world. Not even a hint of a spark between them. This was the guy she claimed to bein lovewith? If so, the guy didn’t have a clue.

“Let me show you the breakroom.” Lacy led the way into the room the other two just left.

Jonah went through and grabbed a cup from the shelf. Lacy closed the door.

“Wolverine isn’t your boyfriend?” He poured himself some coffee and turned around to see Lacy holding the door shut as if someone would bust in any moment.

“What?” She glared at him confused.

“Logan.” He gestured toward the office.

“No. He’s not my boyfriend,” Lacy whispered, harshly.

He raised an eyebrow. “But you were telling your friend—”

She charged him and put her hand over his mouth. “Shhh. How the hell was I supposed to know you’d be working here? We can talk about this at home.”

To reach his mouth, she had pressed her body against his for a second. All soft curves and heat. He grinned against her palm. She snatched her hand away, giving him a chastising look, and stepped away.

“Promise?”

She probably hoped he’d never mention it again. Kind of like not bringing up her watching him fuck Candy. That was a lot more complicated than the Logan situation. She’d would possibly ask why Jonah hadn’t acknowledged her and moved the proceedings elsewhere. Which he didn’t have a good answer for.

After all, what could he say?Seeing you watching me fuck Candy got me off harder than fucking Candy did?

But Wolverine was all her and her awkwardness. She’d proclaimed she loved him, and the guy clearly had no idea how Lacy felt about him. Jonah almost rubbed his hands in anticipation of the ruffled feathers.

“Fine.” She tugged the bottom of her shirt in an effort to straighten it, but it hadn’t been crooked. Straightening her shoulders, she held out a hand, his official tour guide again. “Breakroom.”

Right, time to win over the coworkers. He’d focus on Lacy later.

Today had been hell.Gone was sullen, man of few words Jonah. This Jonah smiled and teased and came up with witty catch phrases and charmed the pants off everyone he met. Lacy knew a few times she’d stared at him with her mouth hanging open, because when he’d caught her, his eyes would drop to her mouth meaningfully.

His laughter was infectious. Unlike the dark chuckles he’d given her before that echoed throughout her body, he had a good, rich laugh. Emily seemed half in love with him already. Even tomboy Claire had a soft spot for the Jonah who came to work.

What a crock of shit. . . er crap. Dammit, he even made her cuss in her head now.

Lacy had been elected the person to show him the computer system so he’d sat beside her the rest of the morning. His breath caressed her cheek. The heat of him was almost overwhelming. She’d scooted away multiple times, but somehow his hand would always manage to brush her bare arm, leaving goosebumps in its wake, or she’d inhale his ocean scent as a reminder he was right there.

When over-the-top Phoebe Butler had strolled in, she and Jonah had become the best of pals. Between Logan and Claire, and Phoebe and Jonah riffing off each other, the whole office could barely breathe from laughing. They did manage to get some work done though. The time flew by until the end of the day finally arrived.

The time Lacy had been dreading.

“See you tomorrow,” Logan said warmly to Lacy.

See, he cared. She smiled brightly at him. “See you tomorrow.”

She’d completely forgotten about the plan to flirt with Logan. Logan turned to Jonah.

“Can’t wait until Friday happy hour.” Logan held up his hand for a high five from Jonah.

Jonah slapped Logan’s hand. “Definitely.”

“I’ll give you the deets on all the ladies.” Though Logan had lowered his voice, Lacy still heard it. She wondered what “deets” Logan would have to say about her. What “deets” would Jonah feel compelled to share?
