“Send me your schedule and I’ll work something in. Love you.”

“Love you.” Lacy let the phone fall to the bed beside her and sighed. Getting the guy was only part of the issue. The problem was she’d barely even kissed guys. She could count the number of guys she’d kissed on less than one hand. Yes, she’d slept with a guy, but it had meant more to her than to him obviously.

Assuming the guy was the right guy, her sexual inexperience shouldn’t matter. She could learn to be better by being with that guy. Right? He’d give her time to learn what she needed to do. He’d find her sexy no matter what.

Jonah’s blue eyes flashed in her mind. Nope. Focus on Logan. Dark hair, dark eyes. Gorgeous.

She sat up on her bed and scooted to the edge. It had gotten late. She needed to grab a bite to eat and then start getting ready for tonight.

Barefoot, she walked to her door and listened to figure out if Jonah was anywhere near. Not that she was avoiding him, but honestly. . . she was avoiding him. Lunch had been nice and the conversation light, but her stomach had been doing flip flops the entire time.

Not hearing anything, she opened her door and released her breath on finding the hallway empty. She rolled her eyes at herself. Because Jonah always stood in the hallway waiting to trap her. She really was going crazy. Maybe she should have a mental evaluation done. Was Chronic Love Sickness a valid diagnosis?

She shook her head as she went into the living room. The coast was clear. Jonah had either left the building or was in his bedroom. Acting like a complete loon, Lacy crept into the kitchen and pulled open the refrigerator door. She could probably get away with drinking a little tonight if she ate a decent dinner. She’d just milk each drink for all it was worth.

Everyone else would be drinking so having a drink in hand would be nice to fit in. Besides it would also help settle her nerves a little.

But she definitely needed food. She’d barely touched lunch. Her nerves had been so frazzled. She didn’t know how to act around Jonah. And time definitely hadn’t helped yet. He was nice and sometimes even sweet to her, but he pushed buttons that hadn’t been pressed before. He turned her insides into liquid and put the blender on high speed.

“Dinner?”

“Holy crap!” She spun around.

Jonah smiled. “Gotcha, huh?”

Lacy let out a small laugh, but her heart didn’t slow down. “Are you out of shirts?”

Once again Jonah strolled around without a shirt on.

Jonah glanced down at his chest. “Spilled something on it. Thought about putting on another, but need to take a shower before tonight.”

That seemed logical enough, but they should seriously have a roommate meeting about appropriate dress for common areas when Sophie returned. Not that Sophie would mind. She enjoyed a little man candy and Jonah was a really fine specimen. Sophie might make a rule for topless Tuesday.

“Dinner?” He raised an eyebrow at her. She cleared her throat of the lump lodged in it.

“I was just looking for something.” Lacy gestured at the open fridge behind her.

“Want to order with me? I know this Chinese place that’s awesome.” He held up his phone. “We can get ready for tonight while we wait.”

He was so reasonable and helpful. Ignoring him and how he made her feel would be easier if he was a total asshole. Instead, she found herself nodding and closing the fridge door. “Sure. Do you have a menu?”

He held out his phone to her and she scrolled through the online menu before picking out a dish. She handed it back to him, careful to keep contact to a minimum.

“Do you want to use the shower first?” he asked.

She swallowed and looked up at him. His beard looked soft and her thumb tingled as she remembered his lips were soft too. Her breath caught. She’d been feeling his beard last night at the bar when her thumb had stroked the corner of his lips. Her eyes widened.

“I should take my shower.” She stepped around him and scurried into her room. She grabbed her towel and some lacy underwear for courage (because no one else but her would see them) before sneaking into the bathroom. Okay she didn’t really sneak, but she tried not to be noticeable.

Her shower steamed up the bathroom entirely. She may have taken an extra long shower, but she felt good and settled when she got out. With one towel wrapped around her hair and another around her body, Lacy stepped into the hallway.

Jonah stood in his doorway holding his towel. “Did you leave me any hot water?”

Lacy shrugged. “Probably.”

His lips tipped into a smile and he said, “Had I known, I would have joined you. Food will be here in ten minutes.”

“Sounds good.” She nodded and went to her bedroom, holding her towel tight around her.
