“Thanks, you always look amazing.” Lacy fought against the blush creeping up her cheeks.

She glanced over at Jonah who greeted Logan. She took a deep breath and almost reached for Jonah’s hand again. Instead she edged near him and let his heat comfort her. Big moment. This was for the win. Would Logan act any differently to her new outfit?

Logan stepped to the side and his dark eyes found her. “Shit, Lace. You look fine tonight.”

He added extra emphasis to the word fine. Not cute. The heat in her cheeks amplified.

“Thanks.” She managed to get out.

“We should all hang out more outside of the office.” Logan returned to the booth and Claire slid in beside him, leaving the other side open for Jonah and Lacy. “We clean up good.”

Okay. She could do this. Jonah helped her up the slight step of the booth and she scooted in, careful of her skirt. Jonah moved in beside her and his thigh brushed hers. She inhaled at the rush of electricity that shot through her from the contact.

“I don’t know about anyone else, but I think I’m tapped out on shots after last night,” Claire said loudly to be heard over the music. “How about some margaritas instead, Lacy?”

Lacy smiled. She could nurse a margarita all night. “Strawberry sounds good.”

“How about it, handsome?” Claire turned to Jonah and gave him a smile that made Lacy’s stomach clench. “Want to help me get the drinks?”

Jonah glanced at Lacy. Maybe he wanted to check to see if she’d be okay. Maybe he just remembered she was still there. After all, he might think she was sexy, but Lacy had nothing on Claire.

Claire’s dark hair cascaded over her shoulder in a partial updo. Her strapless black dress hugged her curves and her breasts looked magnificent in it. If Lacy were into girls, Claire would definitely be crush worthy. She wore these dangling earrings that teased at her shoulders. She was anything but plain.

Lacy finally met Jonah’s eyes and found heat in them that stirred her up like crazy. Was it for her or for Claire? She needed to get her head on straight. Tonight was about Logan, not Jonah. Jonah’s finger touched her hand. She nodded to let him know she’d be okay.

He gave her a slight smile before he turned to leave with Claire.

She straightened in the booth seat and smiled at Logan. Holy crap, she was actually alone at a club with Logan O’Connell. At least for as long as it took to get drinks. Something she could definitely brag about to Beth. Lacy was lucky she wasn’t grinning like the village idiot right now.

“You and Jonah seem tight.” Logan spread his arm over the back of the booth.

She nodded and swallowed the complicated feelings Jonah sparked within her. “We’re friends.”

“That’s cool. Probably makes it easier being friends when you live and work together.” Logan’s gaze strayed down to Lacy’s breasts. Not that they were as impressive as Claire’s. But his gaze did linger there for a moment.

Okay, that was definitely a first. She crossed her legs and glanced toward the bar where Claire stood close to Jonah as they talked while waiting for the drinks. Maybe Claire did have a thing for Jonah. What if Jonah decided to bring Claire home tonight? That would be so awkward.

“I have to say I definitely didn’t expect you to show up looking like a snack.” Logan’s voice drew Lacy’s attention to him as he leaned forward and nodded toward her. “You’ve been holding out on us, Lace.”

His frank appraisal made heat flood her face. Thank God she went with the outfit she felt more comfortable in. She would be dying in the crop top right now. She didn’t have big enough hands to cover all the skin that outfit revealed. With her hair down and around her shoulders, she didn’t feel as exposed in this one.

“We should definitely hit the dance floor after we get a few drinks in us.” Logan smiled.

“Sounds like fun.” Okay, flirting. She could do this. Dancing she couldn’t do, but she’d have to wing it.

Logan glanced over at Claire and Jonah. Claire’s hand rested on Jonah’s chest.

Lacy felt a sinking feeling inside of her which didn’t make sense. Claire wouldn’t touch Jonah like that if she didn’t like him, right? Lacy should be happy for her friend Jonah. Shaking her head, Lacy tried to settle that weird feeling inside. Getting Logan to consider her an option for dating was her purpose tonight. Not worrying about who Jonah might decide to bring home. But as she looked at Logan, his gaze stayed on Claire and Jonah still. A muscle ticked in his jaw.

“So you and Claire hang out a lot?” she asked. Maybe she underestimated their “friendship.”

“She’s my best friend and I donothave girls as friends.” He smiled and played with the coaster on the table. “She’s easy to hang out with. Sometimes, I forget she’s a woman.”

“That seems impossible.” Lacy shook her head. Claire might be “one of the guys,” but no way would anyone not consider her a woman, especially in that dress.

“You haven’t seen her on a game day. I don’t know Jonah, but Claire seems to like him.” Logan shrugged. “And it’d be nice to have another guy to hang out with.”

Lacy recrossed her legs. “You think something might happen between the two of them?”
