She glanced over, but they still hadn’t gotten the drinks. Jonah had leaned down to say something, but when he didn’t put his mouth to Claire’s ear, something settled inside of Lacy and she could breathe easily again.

“I don’t see why not.” Logan’s words pulled her attention. He gave her a smile. “After all, he’s hot. She’s hot. They’re both single. They could probably do worse.”

“What about you?” The question was out, but Lacy had no idea how he’d interpret it. She should have been more specific. Or maybe not asked the question at all.

“Oh, I’m hot too.” Logan winked at her and a little surge went through her heart. Those crush tingles scattered through her as he leaned forward with his arms on the table. “We’re all young and hot.”

Was he calling her hot? That was definitely a step up from cute. His gaze swept over her a little too intensely. She shifted uncomfortably. But she held his gaze and smiled.

“We never get a chance to talk, Lace.” Logan’s dark eyes slipped down to her lips before returning to her eyes. “Do you go out a lot?”

This was a good sign, right? He wanted to know more about her. Lacy shook her head as she leaned in too. “I prefer to snuggle on the couch and watch movies.”

“Netflix and chill.” Logan grinned. “I can dig that.”

She opened her mouth to refute the “and chill” part but stopped. She needed to find common ground with him. Not argue the difference between snuggling and sex. “What kind of movies do you watch?”

“Action or heist movies, mostly.” Logan smirked. “When I’m not watching football or basketball.”

Ah, sports ball. Not her best subject. “Do you follow a particular team?”

“Grew up on the Bears and the Bulls. But I have to admit I’ve been a fair-weather fan since moving here.” Logan glanced toward the bar.

She only had so much time. “I wish I knew more about sports. My three older brothers played in high school, but I never paid enough attention.”

“I played basketball in high school. Mom didn’t want me to damage my noggin, so football was off the table.” Logan grinned at her. “You know, I might be able to teach you more about the game. Claire and I go to the bar for games. You could come with.”

It wasn’t a date, but it was something. Hanging out outside of the office was on the list. “That would be cool.”

Logan reclined, stretching his arms over the back of the booth again.

Glasses arrived at the table as Jonah passed her a strawberry margarita. Claire slid into the booth and Logan left his arm behind her.

Jonah moved in next to Lacy. He gave her a questioning look and she just smiled. Yes, she’d gotten some alone time with Logan. And an offer to hangout outside of the office, this time without Jonah. Things were definitely looking up.
