Just sex?

With Jonah.

“More than once? More than just tonight?” She had to know.

“Definitely.”

“I don’t know what this is between us.” She closed her eyes for a second and couldn’t slow the frantic beat of her heart. She opened them to continue. “But I can’t keep pretending I don’t feel it. I want you. Show me everything. No promises. No flowers. Not even a potential future. I just want you now.”

She searched his eyes even as she held her breath. She wasn’t a virgin, and she never thought she could have sex without love. But Jonah was different. She leaned in and pressed her lips against his. This was what she wanted. His lips against hers. Her heartbeat heavy in her ears.

His lips moved tentatively at first, letting her lead. But what did she know about kissing? Maybe she did it wrong. She sucked at this. How would she get better if she sucked at kissing? She started to pull away.

That was when he took control. His mouth claimed hers like she’d never been kissed before in her life. At least never like this. He consumed her. The storm within her spread like lightning flowing through her veins. His hands slid up her thighs, beneath her skirt, to her panty-covered ass and lifted her onto his lap, pulling her tight against him.

She straddled his lap. Her sex tingled as his hardness press against her intimately. If someone asked her if she’d been kissed before Jonah, she would assert she had not. Before this kiss had been a tragic wasteland of pecks and sloppy mouths. His lips parted over hers and his tongue slid across her lips. She gasped at the touch and he didn’t hesitate to deepen the kiss.

This was more than a kiss. It was an awakening. Since she met Jonah, she’d been slowly stirring, but now she was wide awake. Her whole body enflamed by his touch.

He didn’t feel close enough. Aching for more, she wrapped herself around him. Her hands slid into his hair, keeping him there with her. He fit perfectly against her. Everything within her screamed this was right. Logically she knew it’d only been a week since she met him, but she trusted him with her body.

The heat of his hands caressed her ass cheeks through the thin satin of her panties. His thumb skimmed over her sex and the fire in her turned into an inferno. She moaned against his mouth and his lips curved slightly into a smile. He urged her hips into his again as he tasted her tongue.

He released her mouth and rested his forehead against hers.

“I want you,” she whispered the secret she’d barely admitted to herself. She panted in his arms, trying to regain her breath. The world had tipped on its axis and she no longer knew which way was up. And she didn’t care as long as Jonah continued to touch her. He’d keep her grounded to Earth.

“You aren’t defective, little bird.” His low gravelly voice slipped like a caress against her lips. “You’ve just never flown before.”

She opened her eyes and looked into the same dark stormy eyes she’d seen the night she’d watched him. Her sex pulsed with the memory. Would he do that to her? God, she wanted him to. She’d dreamed about it often enough. Every scene she’d ever read in a romance, she wanted to try with him. She didn’t want to overthink this. She wanted his lips on hers, leaving no room for any thoughts. She’d never catch her breath again and that would be awesome.

“Tell me,” he said, trailing his finger over her bottom lip, sending shivers down her spine. His eyes held her prisoner. “Did you orgasm when you had sex, little bird?”

Her face flamed with heat. She shook her head, afraid to say the words out loud and break this wonderful spell.

“What about by touching yourself?”

His words should not turn her on, but they did. She should be mortified, but honesty between them was important. She’d never had the urge to touch herself before last weekend, before Jonah, and even then she hadn’t. She’d never had a compelling need to quench. She shook her head again.

“Fuck.” The word was whispered and not harsh. As he settled onto the chair, he rocked his hips under hers and she gasped at the burst of sparks flooding through her. His lips turned down slightly. “You’ve had three drinks tonight.”

“Hours ago,” she whispered, tightening her arms around his neck, tangling her fingers in his hair. Please don’t stop.

He pulled his head away from her a little. “This isn’t going to happen tonight.”

She opened her mouth to protest and he kissed her before he continued.

“Two reasons. One, alcohol. Two, Logan.”

She started to protest again and his lips closed over hers. This kiss lasted longer and made her wonder what they were even talking about.

Sex, that was what they’d been talking about. Tonight. She wanted what Candy had. What Logan probably found with the miniskirt woman tonight. What everyone else in the world felt when they had sex. Jonah made her want more. She wanted to be normal.

Jonah raised his head and smiled at her, pressing his thumb against her lower lip. “I won’t have you regret anything we do together. A little kissing is one thing, but sex is a major step. Especially for you.”

Okay, that made sense, but even kissing was kind of a big deal to her. She’d never just made out with anyone before. She still felt the need to point out, “I’m really barely buzzed.”

He chuckled darkly and the vibrations flowed through her. He ran his hands over her spine up to where her shirt tie hung and her back was exposed. His hot hand rested against her bare skin between her shoulder blades. Shivers trickled down her spine to pool liquid warmth between her thighs. If these simple touches made her weak, what would sex with him feel like? She never wanted him to stop touching her. He made her come to life.
