CHAPTER13

Sunlight streamedin through the window onto Jonah’s closed eyes. Jonah woke to Lacy sprawled over him with one of his legs dangling off the couch. Her head rested over his heart. Her fingers clenched into his shirt. Something soft slipped within him like a puzzle piece sliding into place. He took a deep breath and shook off the feeling.

The TV had long ago turned itself off. He didn’t even know what movie she’d put on. Mostly because he’d been too occupied with Lacy. His cock jerked as he remembered her expression as she came. That hint of surprise mixed in with pleasure. He wanted to see that expression over and over again.

That might not happen. This morning, she might regret kissing him and letting him touch her.

He stroked his hand down her back and settled her more firmly on top of him. The couch wasn’t very comfortable for two people, but he didn’t want to move an inch. If he had moved them to a bed, he didn’t think he would have been strong enough to resist sinking into her. He hadn’t meant to touch her like that, to go that far, but he also couldn’t resist seeing her fly. She’d been responsive to every touch and so wet. . . . If that ended up being all she’d let him do, he’d move on a happy man, knowing he’d given Lacy her first orgasm.

Today was Sunday and he had nowhere he needed to run off to. He usually worked out, but he didn’t need to today. He hoped last night hadn’t been a drunken mistake on Lacy’s part. If not, they would have the whole day to explore each other.

Lacy twitched and almost fell off him, but he shifted her onto him. She let out a huge sigh and he wondered what she dreamt about. He brushed her hair away from her face and smiled at her pursed lips as the sunlight hit her eyes.

She turned her face into his chest and tried to burrow into it. He couldn’t stop the laugh that slipped out of him. Lacy froze and lifted her head, eyes still closed. She blinked open her brown eyes and focused on his face.

“Morning,” he said.

Her nose crinkled and she glanced at the window as if the sun offended her. She dropped her head to his chest with her head turned away from the light. “What time is it?”

“No idea.”

Her fingers clenched into his shirt and he tried to remain unmoved, but he’d woken up to her soft warm body over him and his cock hadn’t gotten the message it needed to wait until she decided whether to take this further. But she hadn’t scrambled off him immediately, there was that.

“How do you feel this morning?” His hand settled over her lower back and the soft material of her shirt. They had slept in the clothes they went out in.

She breathed in a deep breath. “Not hungover.”

“That’s good.” He wanted to ask her more but she didn’t usually wake up alert and ready to talk. He could be patient.

Her fingers flexed into his shirt.

“I don’t suppose you made coffee?” The hopeful tone of her voice made him chuckle.

“No, little bird. I didn’t want to move from where I am.” That wouldn’t reveal too much. Besides she knew he wanted her. He didn’t have to hide it, not that he’d really tried to hide it from her before.

She brought her hands under her chin and propped her head up to look at him. He couldn’t stop himself from reaching out and tucking her hair behind her ear, but otherwise, he remained motionless. She needed to lead this conversation. She would determine where they went next.

He wouldn’t apologize for what happened last night, but he would respect any decision she made on it. Except now that he’d kissed her, he wanted to do it again and again. Not just that either. He wanted to slip his hand between her thighs and show her heaven again. So much of her he hadn’t tasted or touched. Yet. Those thoughts definitely didn’t help his erection.

“Are you having regrets?” she asked and winced like she wished she hadn’t.

“Never.” He couldn’t resist trailing his thumb over her bottom lip. “You?”

Her eyes darkened and she shook her head. “No.”

“Good.” He cupped her cheek and she leaned into his hand. He never wanted to leave this couch again. He could stay in this moment with Lacy forever. Later he’d think about what that meant, but right now, he just wanted to stay.

“Can we. . . .” Lacy trailed off and her eyes wandered away from his.

“Can we?” he prompted. He didn’t want to assume she meant what he hoped she meant.

She buried her face into his chest again. She muttered into his chest, “This was easier when I was angry and a little buzzed.”

He played with the string on her top, lightly brushing her nape with his fingers. She inhaled swiftly but didn’t lift her head.

“Do you think coffee would help?” He trailed his fingers over the exposed skin on her back.

She peeked up at him. “Maybe?”
