CHAPTER15

“We are definitely watchinga movie this time.” Lacy held out the remote control at Jonah like it was a weapon. His feisty little bird.

“Sure.” He chuckled and held up his hands in surrender. “Last time wasn’t my fault.”

Lacy blushed fiercely. They had stayed in bed for a while and then showered and ate lunch. Lacy had once again offered a movie and been the one to drag him to his own bedroom that time. Not that he wasn’t at fault, and he hadn’t complained. At all.

“Even so. Movie. This one I haven’t seen so. . . .” She pointed the controller at the corner of the couch. “Stay over there.”

He smiled, shook his head, and took the spot she indicated with his hands still held up.

“Good.” She relaxed into the opposite corner of the couch, still in her kissing frog pajamas. He loved those frog pajamas.

The movie was some cheesy teen rom com. Not that he expected anything else. Lacy was as predictable as she was unpredictable. Wonderfully unpredictable when it came to sex. He’d wanted to believe there was a sex kitten waiting inside her and he hadn’t been disappointed all day.

“Stop thinking about sex,” Lacy said in a gruff voice. She didn’t look away from the TV.

“I’m not.”

She gave him a side glare before returning her focus to the show. Honestly, he’d never been like this with anyone. Yes, it was all new and fascinating to Lacy, but somehow being with her made sex feel new and fascinating to him.

They hadn’t finished discussing time frames. He worried about Lacy. He didn’t want to be her new Chet. She hadn’t had a just-sex relationship before, and a set time limit should help ensure they didn’t get their emotions tangled into it. Hurting her wasn’t an option.

But he didn’t want to bring up a finish date again yet. What if he wasn’t ready to be done when they reached the date?

The thought startled him, but then again, nothing about Lacy had been normal for him.

Both of their phones chimed on the coffee table. He leaned forward and snatched them both before Lacy could grab hers.

“Hey.” She pushed forward to his side of the couch like he knew she would.

Hiding his smirk, he glanced at her phone. Text from Logan.Hey, want to come and hang with Claire and me at Legend’s Sports Bar? I can teach you about football.

Something twisted in his gut. Fucking Wolverine. Jonah was willing to bet he hadn’t gotten a similar invite.

“Would you stop reading my text?” Lacy reached her arms around him, but it was easy to keep the phone away from her short arms.

His text was from his recruiter who had placed him at Taylor and King.Got a new job offer to present to you.

Lacy had managed to look over his shoulder as she practically climbed on his back. “New job offer? Are you still looking?”

He turned and pressed her down on the couch, holding her with his body.

“Logan wants to know if you want to come out to play.” He tossed both phones on the coffee table and grabbed her hands to stretch them above her head.

The startled look left her eyes and soon they were the dark abysses he adored.

“I’m not dressed to go out.” She wrapped her legs around his waist and pulled him into her. He settled between her welcoming thighs. He began to wonder if he’d ever get enough of her.

“Did you want to go put on a sexy outfit and watch a football game with Wolverine?” He lowered his head to her neck and found the spot that wound her up.

“I already have on my sexy outfit.” She glanced down at her pajamas with a grin.

“Kissing frogs are hot,” he whispered against her ear.

She giggled as his lips found hers.

Keys rattled in the door. Lacy squeaked and suddenly Jonah found himself on the floor next to the couch instead of on top of her. Lacy sat up and stared at the TV as the front door opened.
