Her eyebrow went up and she smiled. “Me either.”

“It just got complicated.” He ran his thumb over her lower lip. He wanted to trace it with his tongue, but he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t be doing much with Sophie here.

“Very.”

* * *

Lacy kept glancingover at Sophie. Sophie had decided after dinner to join Lacy for a movie. Jonah had excused himself and disappeared into his bedroom. God, she wanted to be in there with him, even if she was a bit sore. They had gone from zero to sixty in one day.

She couldn’t even text Beth about what had happened with Sophie sitting here. Sophie wouldn’t understand. She’d think Jonah coerced Lacy into it. She wasn’t sure Beth would understand either. Lacy didn’t fully understand and she was involved.

“Do I have something on my face?” Sophie finally asked.

“What? No.” Lacy refocused on the movie. “I am just still surprised you’re here.”

“This is still my apartment too, right?” Sophie smiled at Lacy, her tone teasing. “What’s gotten into you?”

“Nothing.” She bit her lip. Except Jonah. Multiple times today. And she’d been hoping for more. It was almost embarrassing to think of how insatiable she felt around him.

“Did something happen with Logan?” Sophie hit pause on the movie and turned on the couch to face Lacy. She tossed the remote between them. “Is he dating someone else? Did he say something to you?”

“Actually, we went out as a group to a club on Saturday.” Maybe that would satisfy Sophie on her Lacy-is-acting-weird radar. Besides it had happened, even if it felt like eons ago. So much had happened since. “We even danced together.”

Sophie raised her eyebrow and pursed her lips. “Actually?”

“Yes.” Lacy rolled her eyes and hit play on the movie. “We drank. We danced. He went home with some other girl. He even texted me tonight to join him and Claire at a bar.”

Lacy almost smacked her head. She never answered the text. He would probably never invite her out again. Crap. Where was her phone anyway?

“Wait.” Sophie snatched the remote and pressed pause. “He went home with some other girl when you were out with him? That’s not cool, Lacy.”

Oops. She’d kind of skimmed over that part. Lacy took a breath and turned toward Sophie. “We went out as a group. I wasn’t planning on going home with Logan. I don’t want to be one of his one night stands. It wasn’t a big deal.”

“Still. He has to be blind to not know how you feel about him.” Sophie punched the pillow for effect. “To flaunt that in your face. What an ass.”

Lacy could feel the heat spreading through her cheeks. She couldn’t tell Sophie Jonah had been there for her. That he had brought her home and kissed her fucking senseless. Or about falling asleep with him on the couch and everything that happened when they woke up.

Besides Sophie was focused on Logan, and Lacy wanted to keep her focus there. “I don’t think Logan knows I like him.”

“Seriously?” Sophie’s mouth dropped open dramatically. “Then he’s too stupid for you anyway, Lacy.”

Lacy laughed. “Thanks, but you know me, I still like him. He’s been my crush for months.”

It felt off to say that about Logan. Especially after everything she’d done today with Jonah, but if it kept Sophie off their trail. . . .

“Oof. Those guys you like have no idea what they are passing up on.” Sophie held out the remote to her. “You’ve practically saved all your love for your crushes and they can’t even see that. God save us from the men in this world.”

The refrigerator opened. Lacy spun around on the couch. Jonah’s back was to them. He closed the fridge and turned with a bottle of water. Her eyes caught his and her heart skipped. Had he heard all that? Did it matter if he did? After all, her infatuation with Logan was common knowledge. Jonah had even said something about it after they got home last night.

Was it weird Logan was still her crush when she’d been in bed and out of bed all day with Jonah? She’d done things with Jonah she’d never even imagined doing with Logan. And there was still so much more to explore. She didn’t even know if she wanted to do those things with Logan, but with Jonah, yes, please.

“Oh, Jonah, just the man whose opinion we need.” Sophie had spun around on the couch and rested her arms on the back.

“Great,” Jonah said with no amount of enthusiasm at all. His eyes flicked between the two of them.

“You know Logan from work, yeah?” Sophie glanced toward Lacy and winked. What the hell was she up to?

“Sure.” Jonah started toward his bedroom.
