Before he could get to the hallway, Sophie said, “Do you think Lacy has a shot with him?”

Jonah froze. His blue eyes captured Lacy’s as he leaned against the wall casually. Heat glinted in them and she hoped Sophie wouldn’t notice. But the storm inside her grew more chaotic.

What would be the harm in Sophie knowing she and Jonah had sex? Of course, Sophie had always been protective of Lacy. She’d steered quite a few guys away from Lacy over the years. Thankfully. But Lacy didn’t want her to do that with Jonah.

“I think Logan could realize Lacy isn’t someone you let slip through your fingers.” Jonah’s voice rushed through her like lightning.

Lacy bit her lip as Sophie said, “Interesting.”

“But,” Jonah said as he turned toward his door, “I don’t think he’s good enough for her.”

He closed his door behind him. What the hell was that supposed to mean? Not good enough for her? Then who was?

“Hmph.” Sophie turned to Lacy. “He hasn’t been putting the moves on you, has he?”

Lacy’s eyes widened and she shook her head. “No, of course not. Why would you even think that? He doesn’t like me that way.”

Sophie’s eyes narrowed on her. Lacy swallowed and kept her wide-eyed look. Was that too much? Would Sophie guess what they’d done here, there, and everywhere? Lacy looked down at the remote.

“I probably wouldn’t recognize moves if he did put them on me.” Lacy hit play and pretended to be into the movie again. “Now can we watch the movie? We both have work in the morning.”

“He’s right though. Logan isn’t good enough for you if he’s going home with other girls while you are around.” Sophie sank into the couch. After a few minutes, she said, “I bet he has a micropenis.”

Lacy snorted and covered her mouth with her hands. Sophie raised her eyebrow and chuckled softly.

“I missed you,” Lacy said softly.

“My cell still works outside of this apartment, Lacy.” Sophie pulled the blanket down from the back of the couch and spread it over her legs. “You know you can tell me anything.”

Lacy nodded and kept herself from glancing toward Jonah’s room.

Jonah tensedas Lacy’s fingers bumped into his side. Just like clockwork. He turned off the blender.

“Coffee.” Her hair fell in a tangled mess over her eyes and her hands stayed on his T-shirt.

He pressed the full mug into her hands.

Her lips tipped into a smile. “Thank you.”

She wandered to her spot on the couch. Jonah turned to look at Sophie’s door to see if she’d come out too, but she didn’t appear. He filled his glass and went over to the chair next to Lacy’s spot.

“How did you sleep?” He kept his voice quiet.

Lacy grunted in response and continued to drink her coffee.

He reclined in his chair and watched her try to wake up. “Want to share the shower?”

She sputtered on her coffee and lifted her hair out of her eyes to glare at him.

He leaned closer to her. “It would be time efficient.”

She scoffed.

“You wash me and I’ll wash you,” he cajoled, tracing one of her frogs on her pajama pants.

She stood up with her mug and stared down the hallway. Sophie’s door was at the end but to one side. Jonah trailed his hand up her thigh to trace another frog. Lacy looked down at him while she sipped her coffee.
