He was so hard if she gave any sign, he’d drag her to his bedroom where she should have stayed the night. Instead, he’d laid awake thinking about her across the hall, wondering if she ached for him as much as he ached for her.

After a moment, she straddled his lap with her knees on either side of his hips. He swallowed and set his smoothie on the end table. He grabbed her hips and drew her closer to him.

She finished her coffee and set it next to his smoothie. She leaned in and instead of kissing him, her mouth touched his earlobe. Desire spread like a white-hot fire through his veins.

“Sophie’s a fairly sound sleeper.” She brought her face in front of his. Her dark brown eyes were so fucking blown with desire, reminding him of all the things they hadn’t done yet. She tilted her head like she was going in for a kiss.

Fuck, he didn’t care if Sophie beat him up because he’d “taken advantage” of Lacy. He’d let her punch him every day if it meant being able to slide deep within Lacy and making her come so hard she fucking saw stars.

“But. . . .” She traced her index finger over his lower lip. Her eyes twinkled mischievously. “I don’t think we should be late for work.”

She kissed the tip of his nose and grinned at him as she started to move off him. His little bird thought she could get away with teasing him.

“Not so fast.” He tightened his hold on her hips and rocked his erection against the spot where he knew she throbbed for him. She gasped at the contact. Taking advantage, he leaned in and crushed her lips beneath his. His hand wrapped behind her neck to hold her there when she would have pulled away.

Instead, her fingers threaded into his hair and she returned his ravishing kiss with her own. After yesterday, his jets should have cooled some for her, but instead he just wanted her more. When they broke apart, they were both breathing heavily, staring into each other’s eyes.

She cleared her throat. “I need to. . . um. . . take a shower and get. . . ready for work.”

She moved her hands to his shoulders to push herself up. He released her this time. When he started to stand too, she held up her hands to ward him off.

“Alone.” She smirked at him.

He adjusted his cock, drawing her eyes down. He loved she saw what she did to him. He’d really love to show her how much he’d missed her last night, but he grabbed his glass and her cup and moved to the kitchen.

“Better hurry,” he said when she stood there watching him. “I’m more than willing to come in if you take too long.”

For a moment she stood there in indecision. But then she spun on her heel and disappeared into the bathroom. Today would be painful.

After dancingaround each other in the apartment and riding to work together, Lacy needed more coffee. Leaving Jonah behind, she waved at Emily as she passed her and went into the breakroom. Her body was entirely keyed up for Jonah and there wouldn’t be an outlet for it with Sophie around. The temptation to drag him into the shower with her had almost overwhelmed her. But she managed to stop herself.

She was kind of done with people this morning.

Fortunately, the breakroom was empty. Unfortunately, all the mugs were on one of the tall shelves. She started to drag over a chair as Logan and Claire walked in.

“Let me get that for you, Lace.” Logan reached up and grabbed a mug.

“Thanks.” She flushed red, remembering she’d never answered his text on Sunday. As she poured her coffee, she couldn’t help the twinge of guilt that flooded her because of what, or rather who she’d been doing instead. At least before Sophie came home.

It wasn’t like she’d cheated on Logan. He definitely wouldn’t care. They weren’t anything to each other besides coworkers. Sure, she had feelings for him. Logan was still her crush, but the reality was he didn’t want her. Not for now or for the long haul. At least not in the foreseeable future. She’d get over it, just like she had the other guys.

But Jonah wanted her now.

“We missed you at the bar last night. Did you get the text Logan sent?” Claire asked as she waited for Logan to finish with the coffee.

“I didn’t see the message until late. Sorry.” Lacy sipped her coffee. “It sounded like fun.”

“The game was great.” Logan sat at the table. “It would have been more fun if you’d been there.”

Lacy smiled. Surely, he was just being nice. Nothing to get her panties in a twist over. Logan obviously didn’t feel the same way about her as she felt about him. At least right now. Lacy pulled her hair back and over her shoulder.

“Is that a love bite, Hatcher?” Claire said with surprise.

Dammit. Lacy reached up and touched her neck. She’d forgotten about Saturday night’s mementos. “Uh. . . .”

“Nice, Lace. Guess I wasn’t the only one who got lucky this weekend.” Logan congratulated her? Ouch. Guess he really didn’t have any feelings for her besides coworkers.
