“Thank you, Phoebe.” Drew’s voice was heavy with sarcasm as he shook his head. “We have a few new clients to look over and a few deadlines approaching. Unfortunately, that means some of you will need to work late this week.”

“We may need all hands for a night, if the meeting we have this afternoon goes the way we want it to.” Morgan glanced at Drew. “We’ve avoided all-nighters as much as possible. But this client would solidify us as a competitive ad agency. Their deadline is tight.”

“We’ll talk more about them after our meeting,” Drew said. “Assignments—”

“Wait. Assignments?” Claire looked around. “I thought we all worked on everything.”

Drew’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Not this week. We have too many pieces to let any one thing fall through the cracks because we didn’t have time to work on it.”

Even though it went against the culture of the new company, that made a lot of sense. Jonah was glad they could be fluid to work through problem situations. The corporation he worked at before hadn’t been flexible at all.

“Who gets to pick the assignments?” Logan asked.

Drew rubbed his neck. “Morgan, Phoebe, and I will be working the sales angle and we will all be working on the major project for the week. We have two smaller projects we would like you guys to divide and conquer. One is the seasonal campaign for Olly’s Dog Food.”

Morgan pressed on her tablet. “Olly’s wants to try to get a push for their organic premium puppy food for the spring. It will be a sixty second video for internet and television with a cut ad for shorter time slots. The other campaign is Violett Industries’ new perfume, Timeless.”

Drew took over. “This will be a multi-layered project. They want a short thirty second ad for the internet and a comprehensive layout for multiple placements, print and internet.”

Logan looked smug as he glanced around the table. “We all know Lacy loves puppies, and Claire and I bring the sexy.”

Wolverine was being extra irritating today. Just because Lacy hadn’t brought the sexy before didn’t mean she should automatically get the puppy campaign. Lacy just had a different brand of sexy those two weren’t used to.

Morgan’s eyes narrowed at Logan. “That may be the case, Logan, but that’s not how this company works.”

Logan retreated in his chair and nodded.

“We need to mix things up and not let things get stagnant.” Drew set his tablet down. “Phoebe, since you aren’t involved, why don’t you sort out assignments.”

Phoebe grinned wickedly and touched the tip of her red fingernail against her lips as she contemplated all of them. “I’ll assign team leads and then let the lead pick their team. Because who didn’t love doing that in gym class.”

Everyone groaned at the table.

Phoebe just smiled. “Logan and Jonah will be the team leads. Jonah, you can pick first. Which campaign and which partner?”

Phoebe leaned back with her hands clasped over her stomach like some evil genius. Jonah looked at Logan and Claire and then at Lacy. If they really want to mix things up, he had a plan.

“I’ll take the Timeless campaign,” Jonah said.

Logan glanced at Claire and shrugged. Then he smiled as his eyes landed on Lacy, who flushed at his attention and gave him a smile in return. She probably wanted to work on the cute puppy campaign. If Jonah picked Claire, it would give Lacy time to be with her crush. Even though Logan had gone home with someone else, Jonah wasn’t surprised Lacy still liked the guy. She had a blind spot for the guys she was love drunk on apparently.

Claire gave Jonah a huge smile like everyone knew already what he would do. Claire hadn’t been very subtle about her attraction to Jonah at the club, but when she hadn’t made any headway with him, she’d wandered off. He wouldn’t be surprised if she suspected Jonah was into Lacy. Claire wouldn’t have been far off if she did.

Perfume ads tended to be sexy which was why everyone expected him to pick Claire. She dressed sexy and oozed sex out her pores, even if she did come across as one of the guys.

But Lacy. . . there was a whole other side of her that rarely showed itself. He wanted to expose that part of her. Besides if he had to spend a late night with anyone, he’d want it to be Lacy.

“So Lacy or Claire, Jonah?” Phoebe leaned forward and arched her eyebrow at him.

“Lacy.”

Lacy’s eyes flew to him and her lips parted slightly. Pink crept up her cheeks.

“Great, that leaves Logan and Claire working on the Olly campaign.” Phoebe turned to Drew. “Easy peasy.”

“These campaigns need to be wrapped up by tomorrow so we can focus on finishing the proposal for Rutledge Jewelry. Get the mockups to Morgan and me by noon. Feel free to stay as late as you need to. The rest of the week, we’ll be working on. . . .” Drew gestured to Morgan to continue talking about the week they had in front of them. Jonah zoned out slightly.

Lacy focused her attention on Morgan, but Jonah kept a close eye on the others at the table. Logan wasn’t fuming, more disappointed. He probably thought he’d get to spend some time alone with Lacy.
