Jonah turned to watch her and met Phoebe’s brown eyes, watching him speculatively. He held out the cologne to her.

“Careful.” Phoebe took the bottle and spritzed some in the air before smelling it. “The games we play aren’t for everyone.”

He nodded. “What do you think of the cologne?”

Phoebe smirked. “It smells like good sex. A little rough around the edges but hits all the right notes.”

Jonah started to move away, but Phoebe caught his sleeve. She closed the distance between them and she became serious. “Dragging her out of her shell could make others notice what they’ve missed before.”

He followed Phoebe’s gaze to Logan and Lacy coming out of the breakroom. They were both smiling and talking. Jonah returned his gaze to Phoebe who just smiled.

“Might want to lock that down if that’s what you want.” She shrugged and placed the cologne on the table before grabbing some of the trash.

The only thing Jonah knew he wanted right now was Lacy. But would he ever be enough for her?

Could he even stay? For her? For himself?

Did he want to have Lacy as more than a friend and a behind-the-scenes lover?

Could he watch her move on with someone else?

He couldn’t begin to answer his own questions. He shook his head and got busy cleaning up.

Lacy slidthe pizza into the refrigerator and sighed. That look on Jonah’s face shouldn’t still key her up, but she wished they could go home, snuggle on the couch until the temptation to tear his clothes off became too much. Then spend hours in his bed. She really liked being in his bed. Waking up in his arms.

She sighed. Instead they had to work.

“Hey, Lace.”

She turned to see Logan standing with a box of pizza. Her body blocked the refrigerator.

“Sorry, my mind drifted.” She reached out and took the leftovers from him to add to the fridge.

“Not surprised. It’s going to be a long night.” Logan leaned against the sink. “Did you get a chance to smell the cologne?”

“Not only smell it but wear it.” She held up her wrist.

Logan surprised her when he took her hand and pulled her wrist to his nose. Just surprise, no tingles. It seemed like her crush had faded into nothing. “Have to admit it smells better on you than on me.”

He held out his wrist under her nose and she obligingly took a whiff.

“Not bad.” She shrugged. She liked Jonah’s smell better. Ocean air.

“But not good either.” He laughed. “When I walked in, I half expected to find you climbing the walls again. Needing a rescue.”

Heat rushed to her cheeks as she remembered his hands on her thighs when she almost fell. When Jonah had put his hands on her thighs last night, she’d practically come unglued. “I’ve given up my climbing ways.”

“Probably for the best.” Logan started toward the door but waited for her.

“I’m sure you and Claire already have a pitch in mind for the cologne.” She walked with him.

He pulled the door open and gave her a nod to go first. He’d been a lot more attentive to her this week. Two weeks ago, she would have been over the moon and reading so much into it, but now, she couldn’t help but wonderwhynow.

“Thank you.” She slipped through the door.

“Not a single idea. I’m pretty sure we’re going to end up spending the night here.” Logan chuckled. “I feel like we are at one of those YMCA overnight things for kids. Except instead of playing basketball and walking around the track, we have to dig deep for a super sexy ad campaign.”
