“We can’t copy it per se, but I’ll add it to the idea board.” Morgan wrote it on the whiteboard. “The more ideas we have, the easier it will be to find something.”

“Fantasies obviously work.” Phoebe scribbled in the air at Morgan. “Those are always fun to come up with. Forbidden works too.”

Morgan added them to the board.

“We want to tell a story.” Drew touched his lips with his fingertips. “But we can also go for the absurd.”

“What about taking a cue from your original proposal? It’s a great visual.” Jonah leaned forward. His knee brushed against Lacy’s under the table. “A couple coming home after a night out. Elegantly dressed. Him collapsing in a chair and her coming onto him.”

“Not a bad idea,” Drew said.

Morgan added it to the board.

“Okay,” Logan leaned forward on the table. “I saw this one perfume ad from Gucci that was just beyond weird. Like crazy trippy hippy dippy with Angelica Houston in it. Why don’t we embrace the weird?”

Lacy glanced around the table. Everyone had varying looks of doubt.

“Let’s hear what you’ve got.” Drew gestured for Logan to continue.

Logan’s dark eyes met Lacy’s for a moment with a smile. It would have set off butterflies last week. Maybe. Her leg brushed against the backs of Jonah’s fingers where they rested on his own leg. It wasn’t just butterflies, but the whole damn zoo set off within her.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Jonah’s lip quirk up on one side as his fingers flared out against her bare leg, sending the zoo into a stampede.

“What if there was this old timey wooden stage. Kind of like a burlesque style stage with huge velvet curtains drawn back but stay in frame.” Logan drew everyone’s attention. “It feels like one of those really old films. You know the kind with the skips and scratches over it. And this gorgeous practically naked wood nymph with golden wings descends from the top of the stage on obvious ropes.”

“Obvious?” Claire gave him a look that said she wasn’t quite following his train of thought.

Logan smiled. “Just wait. It should look like an old-timey production. You have this golden-winged nymph in the center of the stage. The music starts out like Mozart, all flowy and shit. And then changes to hip hop and that’s when the burly guys run out. Bare chested with flannel shirts hanging open with the sleeves torn off. Maybe short shorts on.”

“Of course,” Phoebe said, grinning.

“And they circle around the nymph. They are all barefoot. And they circle kind of like Ring Around the Rosie, but more like Nutcracker Ring Around the Rosie. Oh, and they have big bushy beards. And the nymph covers them with gold glitter.”

Lacy had to cover her mouth to stop herself from laughing out loud. Morgan apparently had no problem laughing though.

“I will give it you that’s really weird and out there.” Morgan wroteWood nymph lumber jack pixie dreamon the board. “Hey, stranger things have made it to commercial. I’m just saying ideas can spark new ideas. Some of our best ideas came from something absurd.”

The scent wafted up to Lacy from her arm. It wasn’t a bad scent, not at all. The backs of Jonah’s fingers moved slightly against her leg, causing a riot inside her. The scent reminded her of incense Sophie used to burn in college. It would float over Lacy and calm her but also make her long for something more. She never knew what that something was until Jonah.

“I’m always good with hot model guy,” Claire started, “half naked in some body of water, looking all broody with a sexy song playing over it.”

“Hot broody water-soaked dude,” Morgan said as she wrote it on the board.

“I’m on board with that one. I’m willing to look for the model too.” Phoebe raised her hand and looked at Lacy. “How about it, Lacy? How does hot broody guy sound to you?”

The attention focused in on her and she forgot to breathe for a moment. Normally they just skipped over her in these kinds of meetings or she’d say pass. Maybe Jonah had inspired her. Maybe the call-out put her on the spot. Maybe the scent had messed with her head.

“I do like the idea of a hot guy. I mean who doesn’t.” Lacy tapped her finger against her lip. “The scent makes me think more primal than water though. Not that I don’t like the idea of a water-soaked hot guy.”

“Amen to that,” Claire said with a smile.

“I like what everyone else has offered. We’ve all seen the cologne and perfume ads where the guy chases the girl.”

Everyone nodded and Lacy tucked her hair behind her ear. Jonah gave her an encouraging smile.

“What if we flip the script. Instead of the guy chasing the girl, have the girl chase the guy. The fragrance is called Sinful and with the wood scent, I think the setting should be at night in the woods. Maybe have them dressed formally. Barefoot.” She nodded at Logan and he returned her acknowledgment. “Basically playing hide and seek in the forest with a beautiful full moon over head. He can leave a trail of clothes for her to find him. When she catches him, they kiss.”

Lacy knew her cheeks were rosy after explaining her idea, but at least she was contributing. Jonah’s hand clasped over her thigh under the table and warmth flooded her. It wasn’t a sensual touch. He was proud of her and wanted her to know it. Her insides trilled in happiness.

“I love it.” Morgan sat at her laptop and wrote down everything Lacy had said. “They could even start at a party backing to the woods. Almost like a regency era party with a stone patio. The music could drift out from the party.”

“The music is going to make this commercial. It should have a chase feeling to it, enough for the execs to get the feel, but we may end up hiring out to a composer for the final product.” Drew pulled over his sketch pad. “Let’s divide and conquer, folks. Logan, Claire, find a suitable venue and outfits for our characters. Phoebe, make sure this hasn’t been done before. Lacy, Jonah, do the honors of finding the right song to go with this ad. Morgan and I will work on script and art.”

“Maybe we won’t have to stay all night after all,” Logan said, catching Lacy’s attention. He gave her a smile and a wink. He didn’t even make her nervous inside anymore.

Jonah leaned close to her and said, “Come on, let’s find somewhere private to listen to music.”
