The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end just as she was about to tell Logan she wasn’t interested. She turned to find Jonah at his desk with his lips in a thin line. He wasn’t looking at them, but she had no idea how much he’d heard.

“You can let me know later,” Logan said with an easy smile. Probably not a date? He walked into the breakroom.

“What was that?” Jonah asked with a nod towards where Logan disappeared.

“Logan asked me to watch the game with him on Sunday.” She shrugged. She had no desire to go.

He grunted and she turned fully to face him.

“Unless I already have plans?” She couldn’t keep the hopeful tone from her voice. She would much rather spend time with Jonah than Logan.

Jonah finally lifted his gaze to hers. “I’m flying out Saturday morning.”

What? Her mouth dropped open as a million questions flooded her mind.

“All right, everyone. Let’s wrap this up.” Drew’s voice barely registered in her brain.

Jonah was leaving? For how long? Would he be coming back? Was this about that other job?

She couldn’t ask him right now. They were at work. But she wanted to know.

Her heart raced and her palms grew sweaty. She trailed behind him as they returned to the conference table. His leg didn’t brush against hers at all.

Did she do something wrong? What did any of this mean?

He said she could ask him anything and he would tell her. She’d just have to wait until they got back home.
