The words poured from my mouth so fast I wasn't even sure he would catch them all.

“Woah, wait a minute. When the hell did I lie? I haven’t lied about anything to you.”

“You never said Sam was a girl. Did you not think I would want to know you were living with another girl? When you talk about Sam, it was like it was another one of your guy friends.”

“I never thought about it. She’s like one of the guys when she’s not in a mood. I’ve known her as long as I’ve known Nolan. She bar tends at one of the local bars. We barely get along, but we couldn’t afford the rent on our own and Nolan knew she needed a place to stay.”

Trusting him after all this time should have come easy. There was still the possibility that she was being a bitch to get into his bed. I had done the same thing, being nasty to Nate for how many years and look where that led us. Just because they didn’t get along didn’t mean she could be blind to his abs and charm.

“You there Katie?”

Lost in my winding train of thought, I forgot I was even on the phone. My voice was low as I tried to sort through my rambling mind.

“Yeah, I’m here.”

“I’m taking off work Friday. I’m picking you up early, so no sleeping in or I’ll be waking your ass up. Got it?”

“How exactly will I be explaining it to my parents that you’re picking me up?”

I could practically hear his damn smirk.

“Don’t you worry about that darlin’.”

“Fine, but can I ask you something first?”

“Mmm hmm. Well, unless it’s what I have planned, because I’m not telling you.”

Drawing my bottom lip in between my teeth I bit down, afraid to ask.

“Did you call me your girlfriend?”

A bit of nervousness filled my voice.

“Yeah, I kinda did, didn’t I? Is that okay?”

There was a tightness in my chest as butterflies twirled in my stomach. Every time I thought I knew what was going through Nathan King’s mind, he threw me a curve ball and surprised me.

“I guess I mean, I didn’t realize we were that serious.”

The way he spoke I could tell he had a big smile on his face.

“Katie, I’ve been waiting to call you my girl long before you even realized.”
