Hope filled me as I searched his face. “Skip the prank? As in, you won’t do anything?”

He nodded once. “If you don’t want me to, I won’t.”

I slid my eyes from Will’s earnest expression to my dad’s disbelieving one, then back again. “I don’t know if I trust you.”

“What?” He feigned offense. “Of course you do. It’s me,remember?”

“That’s the problem,” I muttered.

Will squeezed me against his side. “Aria, I promise. If you don’t want us to pull any pranks, we won’t. Right, Joe?”

My dad harrumphed. He’d clearly been looking forward to this. But then he sighed, pointing between us. “I’m not sure if I like this change after all. You’re letting her steal our fun.”

I stuck my tongue out at my dad as he turned and walked back into the house. When he was gone, I looked up at Will, twisting in his arms so we were face to face. I linked my hands behind his back as he held me close.

“You mean it? No pranks at the wedding?” I asked.

“No pranks. I mean it.”

“Wow, this really is a dynamic change.”

He grinned. “They took it a lot better than I expected. He was more upset about the no-pranks thing.”

“They took it exactly how I thought they would, Will Paxton.” I punctuated my statement with a quick kiss, then tugged him toward the house. “Come on. Let’s eat.”
