“Green.”

“Same.” We both laugh.

“Favorite time of year?” He looks down at me again.

“Fall.”

“Same.” We both laugh harder.

Turns out we like the same type of movies, music and food. “I guess a better question would be what we don’t have in common,” he says.

We take a seat on a bench overlooking the bay. I try to contain my excitement when he doesn’t let go of my hand.

“Ok, this one splits people,” I say.

“Hit me.”

“Pineapple on pizza. Yes or no.”

He scrunches his nose.

“Well, it’s official, Luke. We are the same person.”

He throws his head back and laughs. I love the way his eyes twinkle when he looks at me.

“Ok, I think we’ve got to dig deep here. You game?” he asks.

I nod and grip his hand tighter. “I’m in.”

His expression turns serious. “Marvel or DC?”

“Oh shit, going for it, huh?”

His eyebrows rise. “You know what that means? I thought I was going to stump you.”

“Not a chance. I’m a Marvel girl. Thor is my main squeeze, but I’ll admit I’ve dabbled with Superman on the side.”

He leans back on the bench and dies of laughter. I watch him, mesmerized. Jesus, he’s handsome.

“They used to call me Superman on the football team in high school.”

I take in his square jaw and his wide shoulders that taper to a narrow waist. “Not surprised Clark. What about you? Marvel or DC?” He chuckles and squeezes my hand. I don’t think he realizes he’s done it, but my heart sings.

“Superman all the way. But I’ve dabbled in a little Captain America.”

I nod. “Fitting.” I reach out and grab his bicep with my other hand and squeeze before I realize what I’m doing. He flexes and I blush like a damn school girl.

He chuckles when I yank my hand away and find sudden interest in the dark waters of the bay. I cross my legs as a burning ache builds between them. Superman is hot ok?

“Liv?” His voice drops a few octaves. I look at him and almost combust from the heat in his gaze. It fades, and he clears his throat and looks at his watch. “It’s getting late. Should we head back to the bar?”

The crowd has thinned and I check my phone and see it’s almost midnight. Where did the time go? I don’t want to go anywhere.

“I live close by. Did you want to come hang out?” The words are out before I can stop them. “I mean, I’m not like one of those girls who—what I mean is—um.” He cuts me off by squeezing my hand.

“It’s ok. I know what you meant. And yes, I’d love to come hang out. I’m enjoying our time together.” He gives me a reassuring smile and we stand and I guide him towards my apartment.

A chilly breeze picks up, and he lets go of my hand, only to wrap his big arm around my shoulders. I lean into him and he pulls me close. Man, he’s warm. Like an oven. I’ll never get cold with this guy around.
