“Good to know.”

He moves to put his hands in his pockets, realizes he doesn’t have any, so he rests them on his hips.

“It’s great to see you.” He gives me a boyish grin and my heart sings.

“You too.” I grin back.

He steps closer. “I’d like to see you more.” There’s heat in his gaze, and I feel my face flush.

“I’d like that too.”

“We have a barbeque at my place once a month. You should come this weekend. Bring Vera and your brother.”

I’m a little disappointed that he didn’t ask me on an actual date, but not enough to turn him down. I enjoy his friends and his company. “That sounds fun.”

“I’ll text you the details. You’ll get to meet Jordy and my sister.”

Yep, one hundred percent misread his distance. Then it dawns on me that I told him I needed time to process. He probably interpreted that as me needing space. Shit. “I’m looking forward to it.”

“Me too.” He reaches out and takes my hand and we stare at each other as electricity flows and zaps between us. When I feel like I’m going to get burned by the sparks, he speaks.

“I’ll let you get going. Text me when you get home?” He brings my hand to his lips and places a gentle kiss on my knuckles.

“Ok,” I mutter out with what is probably a goofy grin on my face. He smiles and squeezes my hand before he releases me. After I finish melting into a pile of goo, I pick myself up and unlock my car. He moves in close to open it for me, and I breathe in his sandalwood scent again. Gah, that’s nice.

I climb into my car, feeling light-headed. He shuts the door and backs up a step, giving me a brief wave as I pull away. I smile the entire drive to the restaurant.

“Aw, that’s so fucking cute.” Vera gushes after I summarize my parking lot experience with Luke.

I nod and shove a chip covered in salsa into my mouth. I groan as the spicy goodness coats my tongue. God, I could live on this stuff.

“Pretty sure I melted on the spot when he kissed my hand.”

“He’s such a gentleman. I didn’t realize they still existed.”

“What about Brando?”

She shrugs. “He’s respectful, but I wouldn’t call him a gentleman.”

“How’s it going, by the way?”

She grins and bites her lip, getting my full attention. “So, I told you I was busy all week. But I didn’t tell you why.”

I nod and sip my margarita.

“I was with Brando. We spent every night together since we met. I can’t get enough, Liv. It’s bad.”

“What?! Vera, that’s amazing!”

“We even did it in his office at work a few times. God, it was so hot.”

I almost choke on the chip in my mouth as I laugh.

She grins as she looks to the side. “Liv, I’m telling you, Brando’s dick was made for my vagina. I’m convinced.”

I laugh. “What about the rest of him?”

“He makes me laugh. He doesn’t make a big deal about hanging out. In fact, a few nights I tried to tell him no since I didn’t want to seem clingy, but he insisted on picking me up from work.”
