"You're going back to the group?" he asks.

I roll my eyes, picking up my fork again. "I have to. I am basically on parole from family therapy. As long as I go to group, I don't have to go to family sessions and listen to my parents go on and on about their newfound feelings for an hour. I would much, much rather sit through the group counselor trying to sell me his just be happy philosophy than sit on a couch with my parents every week.”

"Well then, I'll go too."

"You don't have to."

"Hey, hey. We're in this together now. I too am willing to suffer through happiness quotes if it means I get to go out with you afterwards."

I smile. "Getting to look at you will definitely make the time go by faster."

"I'll see you there then."

We finish eating and although no part of me wants to leave, I tell him I need to head out on the off chance that one of my parents is awake and waiting for me to come home.

"I'll follow you home," Elijah says as we stand from the table.

"No. That's okay. I literally see like one car on the way home from work. I'll be fine."

"I'll walk you to your car then."

I nod and follow Elijah out of the house and to my car.

"Thank you for that dinner/breakfast."

"Anytime. And I mean, anytime"

I arch a brow. "Careful. I might just take you up on that offer."

"I hope you do."

"You do know I'll be looking for you to pop up on all my lunch breaks now, right? You've set a dangerous precedence."

He steps closer. "You won't get tired of seeing me?"

"Somehow, I don't think that's even remotely possible."

He smiles as he leans in. I tilt my head up, more than ready to have his lips on mine one last time tonight. My eyes flutter closed, hands digging into his hoodie to bring him closer. Our tongues come out at the same time, and I almost giggle at both of us seeming to be as anxious as the other to make this kiss deeper.

"Do you know how good kissing you feels?" he asks, voice husky with the same motion rushing through me right now.

Lust. Desire. Need.

"I think I have an idea. Oh. Here."

I bring the hoodie over my head and hand it to him. "I did say the next time I saw you, I'd give you a hoodie, right?"

He tries to hand it back. "You'll be cold."

"I'm getting into a car with heat, and walking from the heated car to my heated house. I think I'll survive."

He smiles down at it as he takes it before looking back at me. "What are we gonna do when the weather gets nicer and we don't need hoodies anymore?"

"I like that you're thinking long-term here."

"I don't think there's any other time frame when it comes to someone like you."

My heart squeezes at his word, at the sincerity in his eyes.

"I hope so. And we'll figure something else out for when hoodies are too hot. I don't think I can sleep without something of yours anymore."

He smiles and gives me another quick kiss. "Text me when you get home so I know you got there okay."

"I will. Night Elijah.

"Night.

He watches me get into my car and waves as I pull off. It's now two-thirty in the morning and not a single part of me feels the least bit tired.
