Jolie: Winner, winner. You have to cook me dinner.

I laugh and it feels much too good. But it's cut short when I look up at Ben's house, to the second floor, where I know Regina’s bedroom window is. The light is on, a shadow pacing in front of the curtains. Guilt rushes through me again but the vibrating of my phone makes me look back at the screen.

Jolie: Geesh, apparently I beat you by more time than I thought. Hmm, better make it dinner and breakfast.

I reply, smiling as I walk towards my door and making sure not to look towards Ben's house again.

Me: Deal.

"Well, how was your night?"

I jump at the sound of my grandma's voice coming from the living room.

"It's one in the morning. Why are you up?" I ask.

"Every time you go to one of those dinners, you come back...upset. I wanted to wait up and make sure you were okay."

I definitely wasn't, but I am now.

"I'm okay grandma. But thank you for staying up. You can go to sleep now though."

She stands and walks closer to me, looking for the honest answer in my eyes. Had I come home right after leaving the dinner, she would’ve found a lie, but now that I've been with Jolie, only the truth is there. Finally, apparently satisfied, she nods and pats my cheek before giving me a smile and walking past me.

"Goodnight grandma's boy."

"Goodnight." I chuckle.

Going into my room and changing out of my clothes, everything that happened with Regina is the last thing on my mind. I'm only thinking of what I'll cook for Jolie when she next comes over here.
