"Yeah."

I come to a red light and look at her just as she looks at me. The words are on the tip of my tongue, begging to be released, but I hold them back. This day has been about letting go. I want to tell her when the day is just about us. Just me and her.

I begin driving again and she says, "Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure if I don't go home today, they'll probably literally send out a search party for me. I would not put it past them."

We pull up to her house a few minutes later.

"A little reprieve," I say when I notice only her car in the driveway.

"Only a little one. But it really doesn't even matter because I had the weekend of my life. Thank you, Elijah. For everything."

"You have to stop thanking me one of these days."

She leans over, almost bringing her lips to mine. "But I won't because you deserve to know how much the things you do matter to me."

Then she closes the distance, soft lips meeting mine, making me wish we weren't back here. That we were still in a hotel by the beach, in our own little world.

She backs away far too soon, and I get out to open her door and hand her her bag from the backseat.

"Good bye, Elijah." She gives me one last smile.

"Good bye, Jolie."

I watch her go into her house before driving down the street. When I walk into my house, I'm greeted by the smell of something being baked with cinnamon. I drop my bag by the front door and go into the kitchen, sure my grandma will be there. Her back is to me, putting icing on something, and I stand there silently for a moment, trying to hold in my laugh at whatever song she's humming along with in her mind.

"Well, I see you didn't miss me much."

Her back straightens and she turns around. "Oh, grandma's boy. How was it? How was it?"

She rushes over and hugs me.

"It was great. The beach was a little cold, but really nice."

"Oh, that's nice. Good food there?"

"None as good as yours."

She arches a brow at me. "Such a flatterer. You're only saying that because you see I baked cinnamon roll cake."

I chuckle. She cuts me off a fresh, hot piece and right as I've taken my first bite, she asks. "So do you love Jolie?"

I don't even have to think about it, but take a moment to finish chewing to answer. "Yes."

"Does she know that?"

"Not yet, but she will."

"Good. Tell her soon. A woman should always be sure of your love."

"Just how did you become such a love expert."

She grins. "My many, many boytoys."

I grimace. "That's something I never needed to hear in life."

She laughs as I shake my head and eat my cake.
