“Okay, sounds good hon.” Chris leans closer and whispers, “You can also fill us in on the wall of man meat that’s been glaring at us this whole time.” Stepping back with a mischievous grin, he winks then walks with Nathan back down the hall, taking their spots back from the Karen that gave me issues when I came to register the boys and some other woman, who is looking between me and the guys with a frown.

I smirk at the two women as we pass by, then turn down the hall where the boys’ classes are, both of them pulling my arms harder the closer we get. Callum and Odin are in front leading us to where we need to go, the other three following behind us, and I have a hunch they did that on purpose.

We get to Lochlan’s classroom and there is a pretty older woman standing at the door greeting the kids and parents. She’s about 5’5, short curly brown hair and brown eyes, beautiful light brown skin and a kind smile. Her eyes widen when she sees all of us walk up. “Well look at this group! Which of these handsome young men will be in my class this year?”

Callum reaches back for Lochlan’s hand, and gently pulls my very nervous son up beside him. “This is Lochlan, who has been so excited to start school this year, and this is his big brother Arden, who will be in kindergarten.”

She squats down eye level and gives Lochlan a beaming smile. “Hi Lochlan, I’m Mrs. Griffin. It’s so nice to meet you! Do you want me to show you where you can put your backpack and supplies?”

Lochlan throws himself at Callum and starts crying, “I don’t wanna stay, can I go home pwease? I don’t want you to leave!”

Callum picks him up and shoots me a panicked look, him and the rest of the guys looking like they are five seconds from taking him home. “Buddy, you have been so excited to be at school with your brother and to make friends, but I’ll be here when you get out of school. I promise. We’d never leave you here, okay?”

That seems to soothe him a little bit to where he is just sniffling, and his teacher gives him a small smile. “Lochlan? Would you like it if your dad walked in with you?”

Lochlan nods, and with the sweet innocence of a child says, “But they are all my daddies, and that’s my mommy.” The smiles on the guys’ faces is almost enough to make the panic bubbling up inside me to stay away. Almost.

Her eyes widen again but before she can say anything, a tall leggy blonde pushes her way past us and shoves a little girl towards the teacher. “Here. This is Katie, and here’s her stuff.” With that declaration, she turns to walk off from her now sobbing child. Then she sees the guys and gives a sultry smile, and I notice Bodie stiffen. “Bodie baby, what are you doing here? Why haven’t you come to see me lately? I miss you,” she simpers, stepping up to hug him.

He backs away, putting his arm around me. “Victoria, we broke up almost a year ago. Why would I come see you? Not to mention, I’m currently seeing someone, and we are here dropping our kids off. This isn’t the place for your drama. Maybe you should act like a mother and actually tell your daughter goodbye?”

Ignoring Victoria and her crossed arms, he turns to Callum and continues, “Why don’t you and Odin get Lochlan settled, and we will take Arden to his class?” When Callum nods, he looks back at me. “Babe, whose bag is whose?” he asks, giving me a tight smile. I give Lochlan’s bags to Cal and Odin before bending down to give him kisses and tell him I love him. He seems calmer now that he and the little girl are talking.

Bodie grabs my hand and we walk towards Arden’s class. “Angel, I swear I’ll explain that later, but it really has been over for almost a year.”

I squeeze his hand, and offer a comforting smile. “It’s fine love, we all have a past.”

Arden’s teacher is standing at the door similar to Mrs. Griffin, and she beams at Arden when we approach. “Hey there sweetheart! What’s your name?”

He grins happily, and steps up towards her. “I’m Arden. This is my mommy and three of my daddies. My other daddies took my little brother to his class because he was scared, but I’m not. I had school last year.” He turns towards the guys, hugging them all before hugging me and asking, “Can I have my book bag and supplies?”

“Do we even get a goodbye little man? Or are you gonna shoo us out the door?” Orin chuckles.

“Bye daddies, bye mommy. Love you. Please can I have my stuff now?” he’s jumping up and down.

The guys are all laughing at his antics. “Okay buddy, here have a good day, be good. We love you too,” Silas tells him, hugging him one last time and handing him and the teacher his bag.

I give him one last kiss and go to walk back to rescue my guys from the pre-k class. “Mrs. Aaron?” his teacher calls out.

“Oh, uh, I’m not married anymore. You can just call me Isla,” I tell her awkwardly.

She glances at the guys almost nervously. “Oh, alright then, Isla. Will Arden be a car pick up?”

“Yes ma’am, he will be this week, then I might start letting them ride the bus some.” I tell her, ignoring the looks from the guys.

Her face lights up again. “Okay, great! He will be just fine it seems, and we will see you this afternoon!” she says, waving as we walk back down the hall.

I get to Lochlan’s class and can see from the doorway that Callum is standing in the back of the class talking to Lochlan’s teacher while Odin is sitting at one of the tables coloring with my son and the little girl, Katie.

Lochlan looks up, grinning widely when he notices me. “Hey mommy! I happy now.” He runs over and gives me a hug, as if to reassure me that he’s okay. Odin takes that as his cue to stand up, and Callum excuses himself, following us out.

All the guys look completely heartbroken to be leaving the boys, and I have to admit, it’s seriously cute. I walk them outside so I can get the paperwork out of my car.

Silas is grumbling and looking back at the school. “Do we have to leave them?”

I can’t help but laugh at his pouty face. “Yes, we do. They will be fine. Now y’all all need to get to work, and I need to get this paperwork turned in. Odin, I just come up to the police station after, right?”

He pulls me into a hug and kisses the top of my head. “Yeah Kitten, I’ll wait there for you. I’ll see you in a bit.”

All the guys give me hugs and small kisses then walk to their cars. After waving goodbye, I grab my paperwork and head back inside the school. Hopefully this will be another step to my fresh start.
