“Now, lean back, get comfortable, and try to relax. If you need more snacks or another drink, all you have to do is text one of us.” He leans over and kisses the top of my head. “We love you, Wildflower, and we will never stop showing you how much.”

I grab his hand when he goes to walk away, and quietly tell him, “I love y’all too. I never thought I would find love again, much less with more than one man. However, finding you all has been one of the best things to ever happen to me. Thank you for everything you do for me and the kids.”

“You’re welcome Wildflower, now let yourself relax. We’ll handle everything else,” he calls over his shoulder, pulling the door shut behind him.

“WHAT THE FUCKDO YOU MEAN SHE’S GONE!” I bellow out. “Where the fuck did she go?” I’m currently pacing around the police chief’s office, trying not to put my fist through a wall.

“Now, Officer Stone, I know this is a difficult situation, but you need to remember who you’re talking to,” Chief Briggs not so calmly reminds me.

“I’m sorry, Sir, but she attacked my woman. Not to mention, I’m pretty sure she’s the one who’s been stalking my family. She left anonymous gifts on Bodie’s vehicle, and threatening notes on Isla’s car,” I tell him making another pass in the small space. “Isla was mentally and physically abused by her ex-husband for years, and I’ll be fucking damned if I let some bitch torture her just because she has a fucking crush on me and my brothers.” His eyes widen slightly at my vehement speech. Around here, I’m known as the calm and collected, but fair officer, not the one out for blood. But that was before this bitch attacked my family.

“Are you absolutely certain she is the stalker, though? Is there anyone else it could be?” he runs his hands through his hair, pulling at the roots slightly.

“Sir, I have no fucking idea who else it might be. It’s the only logical explanation I can think of, though. She was overly aggressive with that arrest, yelling nonsense about Isla ruining everything. Hell, out of the five of us, only Bodie has actually dated anyone in the last seven years. The woman he was with before is too damn stupid to not get caught. We’ve all been focused on work, and most of the other women in our lives are married or at least in long term relationships.” Sighing heavily, I finally stop pacing and sit down across from him.

“Honestly, I’m more worried she’s going to try and do something to the kids. She already threatened them in the first note, but we’ve made sure Isla can take care of herself. She’s had extensive self defense training and she is a damn good shot. However, our kids are five, four, and two.”

His brow raises, and I continue, “Yes, I said ours. I love those kids as I would my own.” I look him straight in the eye, and with a deadly serious tone, I tell him, “I know she’s a cop too, but if it comes down to her or my family, you know who I’ll choose. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect them. Isla won’t hesitate to protect her kids, either, so I don’t want her getting in trouble when Heather tries something again.”

The chief nods, “I understand. She was supposed to come straight here after you got to the scene, but she dropped off the squad car, got in her personal one, and left. I’m going to give her until the start of her shift tomorrow to get in here, but I did put out a BOLO for her with all the surrounding areas with a description of her vehicle.”

I stand, reaching over the desk to shake his hand. “Thank you, sir. Hopefully we can get this situation handled soon and without anyone getting hurt. I’ll let you know if she contacts me or my family at all.”

“Not a problem, Stone. I want this taken care of just as badly as you do. Makes us all look bad when one of our own starts acting like that. I’ll let you know if we find her.” He walks over to open his door so I can leave.

Walking out of his office, I grab my phone out of my pocket and immediately dial Bodie. Now that the meeting is over, my urge to check on Isla is almost as strong as my need for air to breathe.

“Hey man, what did the chief say?” he asks as he answers the phone on the first ring.

“He said he’s giving her until roll call tomorrow to show before he does an official APB, but he sent out a notice for all local and surround units to keep an eye out for her,” I reply, going to my locker to get my bag out. I don’t even want to stay here long enough to change clothes. “How’s Isla doing? She was freaking out pretty bad when they left.”

He sighs, “She was still worried, but after you called, Silas set up the bathroom all spa-like so she could go relax and unwind. Hopefully that’ll help calm her down. What are we going to do, man? We can’t be with her or the kids every second of the day, but I also don’t want to leave them alone. Ever.”

Nodding like he can actually see me, I answer. “I hear you, brother, but honestly, I don’t know. We will have to all sit down and discuss it. I’m leaving the station now and headed that way. What are the kids doing?”

He chuckles, “They conned Emma into watching them swim; I swear they are all little fishes. I’m getting everything ready for Arden’s party and Silas just went out to help with the kiddos.”

“Alright, I sent the other two a message but there was a bad fire out by the mill, so I don’t know how long they will be. I’ll see y’all when I get there.” I hang up, not even bothering to wait for an answer.

As I drive to the manor, my stomach is in knots. I’m angry at Heather and the lack of options we have right now. But I’m also terrified that something could possibly ruin this sweet little family we’ve formed. I’ll be damned if anyone touches them. Bodie was right, we can’t leave them alone.

I’ll burn the whole fucking world down to protect Isla and our kids.
