ISLA

This man actually looks like a god from Greek mythology. He’s over six feet tall with white blonde hair and the most beautiful electric blue eyes. Both arms are covered in tattoos and he’s about two hundred pounds of pure muscle. Shit, I need to change my underwear. Watching this perfect specimen of a man walking to my car makes me think I died and went to heaven.

He’s smiling as he approaches. “Hey there ma’am, are you okay?”

Clearing my throat since all the moisture in my body went straight to my lady garden, I have to lick my lips before replying. “Yes sir, my radiator hose busted, I was just looking for a tow company when you pulled up.”

“You’re in luck, my brother owns a towing company. I’ll give him a call and get him to head this way.” He reaches out his hand. “I’m sorry, I didn’t get your name. I’m Odin.”

Shaking his hand, still in shock from his looks, I reply. “I’m Isla. Thank you so much, by the way. I’m sure my grandma would pick me up, but she has my kids, and I forgot to leave the car seats.”

“It’s okay love; it’s never any trouble to help a beautiful lady like yourself. Let me just give my brother a quick call.”

The desire in his eyes surprises me. I can’t remember the last time someone looked at me like that.

ODIN

HOLY FUCK!!Where did she come from? She is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I’m daydreaming of all the things I actually want to say to her when I step away to make the call. Pulling up my brother’s number, I listen to the ringing on the other end as I wait for him to pick up.

“What do you want, dick?” He answers.

I run my fingers through my hair. “I need you to get over here on I-10 past mile marker 45, quick as you can. I have a young woman who broke down, and man, it might be love at first sight.’’ All I can hear is him laughing hysterically.

‘‘Dude, love at first sight? When have you ever even said you love someone?” I can hear rustling in the background underneath his chuckling. “I’m on my way. I gotta see what this chick looks like!” CLICK.

Seriously?Didn’t even let me respond. Walking back to where this beautiful woman is leaning on her car, I try to make small talk to pass the time. ‘‘So are you just visiting?’’

“Oh, no I umm just moved. My grandmother is here, so it just made sense.”

She seems really nervous, I notice. “Ahh, okay. Who’s your grandmother, if you don’t mind me asking?’’

“Emmalynn Aaron. She inherited the old Gauthreaux monstrosity.”

I’m shocked. “Ms. Emma is your grandmother? I didn’t know she had another granddaughter. I mean, I met Saige a couple times.”

“Yeah, that’s my sister; Maw-Maw raised us after our parents died, and Saige moved here with her after our grandmother inherited the house. I was in college when she moved and didn’t want to transfer.’’

By the look in her eyes when she looks away, I don’t think that’s the full story. I don’t know what it is about this woman but man, she has me obsessed already. She’s beautiful, with long purple hair, the most amazing blue eyes that look like the ocean in the Maldives. Her arms are covered in tattoos, and she has her nose and lip pierced with hoops. She’s definitely short, maybe five foot three. My inner thoughts are interrupted by my brother pulling up.

ISLA

I’m zoned out, lost in thoughts brought up by my discussion with the mountain of a man next to my car, so I’m snapped out of my thoughts when the tow truck pulls up. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; What in hell do they put in the water here? The man stepping out of the truck is just as hot as the man in front of me. I know he said brother, but this new guy is maybe only a hair shorter. Unlike his brother, though, his hair is medium length dirty blond, setting off his striking ice blue eyes, plus he has a snake bite piercing, a small cross on his face by one eye, and he’s a good bit tanner than I’ll ever be. A chuckle brings me out of my not so subtle ogling.

“Isla, this is my brother Silas. Silas this is Isla, our damsel in distress this evening.”

“Wow bro. Now I know why you had me rush over here. She’s beautiful.” He punches his brother in his arm.

“Shut up and load the car,” Odin grunts.

“So you think I’m beautiful, huh?” I ask him as Silas starts to attach the tow cable. Seeing this huge man squirm is amusing.

“I never actually said that,” he replies, “But he’s not wrong.” He chuckles at himself. “I just said I think I believe in love at first sight.”

I stare at him like he's insane. “I didn’t think my car was that nice, but thanks,” I sass. Walking over to where Silas is loading my car, I ask, “Could you drop me off at home on the way to the shop? I’ll give you my number so when you get it fixed I can come grab it. If you have time it could use an oil change too. I normally do it but I haven’t had time. Um, if that’s fine?” Suddenly I’m really nervous about how I was speaking to him; Corin would have made sure to put me in place for being “bossy”.
