“I remember that day,” she says with a smile. “You yelled my name and ran across the street. I thought your mom was going to have a heart attack because you didn’t check for cars.”

I chuckle. “My only thought was to see you up close again. Over the years, my innocent little crush grew into something stronger. I’ve already told you about my puberty years. They were hell for me.” I give her a lecherous grin. “I had a couple pictures of you that Mom took when you babysat me. I can’t tell you how many times I jacked off to them. And in case you’re wondering, I still have them, but they’re creased to hell and back and they may have a few splotches of jizz on them.”

She wrinkles her nose and it makes me laugh.

“You aren’t right in the head.”

“If I’m not, it’s because of you. You’ve driven me insane over the years.” Leaning forward, I steal a kiss. “Anyway, when I found out what you went to college for and that you were opening your own company, I knew I wanted to work in public relations. Before then, I hadn’t really thought about what I wanted to do, so it’s not like I changed my career path to match yours. I hated leaving for college, but I knew I needed that degree so I could use it as a stepping stone into your life. I had Mom talk to you about letting me intern and she came through.”

“You’re a devious little sneak.”

“When it comes to you, I’m capable of anything.”

“Yeah, I’m getting that picture.” She tilts her head to the side and regards me curiously. “I knew of your crush when I babysat you, but you never approached me or gave any kind of hint that you still felt that way once you got older. Why?”

“Because I wanted to come to you prepared for any excuse you may come up with as to why we couldn’t be together. My education and age were my last obstacles.”

“There is one other obstacle you haven’t thought about.”

I slide my hands further up her back until I reach the strap of her bra. I unsnap it. “And what’s that?”

“Your parents,” she answers, her voice dropping several octaves.

“My parents love you. Have for years.”

“They may have loved me as your babysitter, but I’m not so sure they’ll love me sleeping with you.”

“My parents will deal. They’ve got no choice. I’ll be damned if I let them dictate who I see and choose to spend my life with. Besides, they’ve got no choice now.” I grin. “Since you’re carrying their grandchild.” I steal another kiss before she can say anything. “I can’t say I’m sorry for switching out your pills because it got me what I wanted; you’re connected to me for the rest of our lives. But I swear to you, Penelope, for as long as I live and with every breath I take, I will make you the happiest woman there ever was and ever will be. I will never make you doubt what we have isn’t everlasting.”

“I need to get your parents an expensive bottle of wine,” she remarks through her breathtaking smile.

“To butter them up before we tell them the news?”

“No. They deserve it for raising such a wonderfully-sweet son.”
