Kyle whacked him in the arm. “Imagine how fast we could do things around the pack! Houses would go up overnight.”

Xander grunted. “Yeah, and put us all out of work overnight, too.”

I crossed my arms over my chest, feeling strangely attacked. I wasn’t putting anyone out of a job. “I don’t have this level of magic outside of our realm.”

“So you wouldn’t be able to build a house overnight for our pack?” Kyle asked with a cheeky grin.

I tilted my head, laughing despite my nerves. “Well... I could. But then all my magic would be drained, and I’d probably feel like shit for about a month.”

Magic was fragile and involved a delicate balancing act. Luckily, living here behind the veil meant we didn’t need to balance anything. The magic was constant and free-flowing. But we had always been taught the differences between worlds, and I knew that if I ever wanted to live in the outside world, I’d need to learn and adapt. Or be constantly unwell.

Xander held out his arms. “So, how about some jeans?”

I imagined blue denim in my mind, and then flicked my hands in his direction. The loose black pants disappeared and jeans clung to his thick thighs and slim waist.

I swallowed down the lump in my throat. Damn, he was sexy. Men like this just didn’t exist in the magical world. Not that I’d ever come across, anyway.

“A shirt?” I asked, and he nodded.

Once I was done dressing two of the sexiest men I’d ever met, I turned away and put on the kettle, wanting the distraction of something normal to do so I could hide how flustered I was by their presence. Besides, they’d probably have questions galore—I knew I did—and I figured a cup of tea was in order. We had two full days to get to know each other, before they left and I would likely never see them again.
