“Come on, sweetheart. Tell us more. We don’t have magic in our pack, and really don’t know much about spells... or how any of that sort of thing works.”

She dragged her gaze back to me. “The future projected from now is an assumption that everything will go exactly as planned. But one unusual choice, one thing steps out of line, and then the whole future can change. It’s not an exact science. Not at all.”

I wasn’t sure whether I should take comfort from that, or worry that those babies might never exist.

I shook myself and leaned forward to kiss her again. She kissed me back, moaning a little.

I heard rather than saw Xander shift uncomfortably.

Too bad, Alpha. Now you know how I felt when you kissed her back in the forest.

When I pulled away to stare at her, I grinned. “We love you and want to marry you, and we will do anything for you. I just wanted to say that again. No matter what the future holds, we are in. Do you understand the depth of that statement?”

She nodded, but I knew she didn’t.

“Wolves are pack animals, loyal to a fault,” I told her. “And you’ve got two of us, so you’re going to be swimming in love and admiration. You know that?”

She smiled. “I saw that in my vision. The happiness. The love.”

“Brilliant.”

Xander stood up, his eyes glowing with his shifter. “I don’t want to wait another day to start our lives together.”

Monique hopped up, too. “So, everything Kyle said—”

“Goes double for me.” He nodded. “I’m not as good with my words as Kyle, but I want you as my mate, Monique. My wife. I love you with every fiber of my being. I know that already, and it will never change.”

A sob escaped her. He opened his arms and she ran straight into them.

He kissed her hard, and I glanced away, not wanting to see it, but glad they were bonding the way we all needed to, so we could make this relationship work the way Fate wanted it to.

Finally, the noises stopped, and I looked up.

“I’m going to speak to the high warlock,” Xander said. “Don’t start anything without me.”

I wanted to laugh at his insecurity and jealousy. I knew exactly what that felt like, myself. “This time, but you know that I can’t guarantee that in the future.”

“I know,” Xander said. “But the first time...”

I understood what he was saying. The first time we made love to Monique and took her virginity, he wanted us all to be together. It was the right way to do this.

“Yep. Got it. You go. We’ll make dinner or something.”

Xander lifted his hand in farewell, and then left.

Monique walked over to me. “What was that about?”

I drew her into my arms. “He doesn’t want me seducing you while he’s gone.”

She twined her arms around my neck. “Does kissing count?”

“Definitely not.” I dropped my head to take her mouth with mine, wishing we were past this part already and I could take her to bed anytime I wanted to.
