Madison swung again.

I gently wrapped my hand around her wrist and pulled her closer to me.

Her body slammed against mine.

Except I was too padded up to really feel her.

That pissed me off.

“Stop slapping me,” I growled.

“No,” Madison said. “I’m not some floozy slut or something, okay?”

“Then why did you use a fake name?” I asked.

“I used my middle name, okay? So calm down. I didn’t steal anything from you. I didn’t take your wallet. We knew what we were doing. You were whining all night about your ex.Oh, I can’t believe she screwed another guy. I can’t believe I walked in and saw her riding some guy. Blah…”

She was even hotter when she was defensive.

“Here, look,” she said.

She reached into a small bag that hung off her shoulder and produced a business card.

“There,” she said, handing it to me. “My full name is on my business cards. See? Madison. Grace. Boom. I win.”

I looked at the card and felt like crumpling it up.

I looked down the hallway and saw the faint light of where the rink was.

We were too close together and talking too loudly.

I slipped my right hand to the small of Madison’s back and pulled her toward the locker room.

Once we were inside, I let the doors shut and I put my back against them.

“Oh, tough guy,” Madison said. “Trying to trap me in here?”

“No. How’s your hand?”

“My hand? My hand is fine. Why?”

“Just making sure you’re okay. I had to get you alone. I didn’t know what else to do.”

“Oh, so we’re calm now? No more attacking me?”

“I’m not attacking you, sweetie.”

“Actually, you are…sweetie. You’ve been verbally attacking me. And then you attacked me on the ice.”

“I did not.”

“You knocked me down!”

“I gently bumped into you. It’s not my fault you have no balance.”

“Oh, please,” Madison scoffed. “I’ve been in every arena in the league.”

“So have I.”
