I waited for Madison to follow me.

Madison came walkingdown the hallway toward the restrooms.

“I can’t even get a drink before this starts happening?”

“What starts happening?” I asked.

“You wanting to secretly meet. Figured we’d do that in a little bit.”

“I don’t like to waste time.”

“I know,” she said with a smirk. “I slept with you. Remember?”

“Please. I don’t finish too quick. And last time I checked, you came more than I did.”

“Which I earned,” Madison said.

“By lying to me?”

“Grace is my middle name.”

“Then why did you tell me it was your first name?”

“A lot of people are called by their middle name.”

“I’m sure there are. Nobody else calls you Grace though.”

“Just all my one-night stands,” Madison said. “Want me to list them all for you,Mav?”

My hands tightened up into fists. “You’re the one in trouble here. Not me. Your father is a psycho.”

“Indeed, he is,” she said. “So why not forget about it? We had fun. Leave it at that. Unless of course you’re going to do the right thing and replace the camera lens you broke. Last time I checked people who take pictures of hockey players make a lot less than the hockey players themselves.”

“You’re assuming I make a lot of money.”

“You’re assuming I’m an idiot and didn’t look you up online. I saw what your last contract was worth.”

I curled my lip. “You know what? I’ll buy you a new lens. I’ll buy you ten of them. I’ll buy you fifty cameras too. How’s that sound? Better yet, how about I pay for you to take pictures on another team? You tell me what it takes to get you off my back.”

Madison crept closer to me.

I refused to take note of how her hips swayed in her dress.

She slowly reached for my tie and climbed her hand up to the tight knot.

She pulled at my tie.

I didn’t move.

She jumped up to her toes.

“Remember one thing, Maverick,” she whispered. “You called me. You wanted to hook up and I’m here. I was leaving without question. You’re the one butt hurt over me using my middle name. You’re the one worried about my father. You’re the one who broke my camera lens.”

She released her hold on my tie and started to step back.

Before I could think for a second, I grabbed her hips.

I pulled her closer to me again.
