“Clive will be here soon.”
Clive arrives, and we all climb into his Jeep. I sit in the front, and Clive gives me a puzzled look.
“Clive, this is Claude, and you know Shannon.”
“Hey, Clive, good to see you again,” gushes Shannon.
“Hey, Clive, nice to meet you.”
He twists in his seat and stares at them. “Why are they coming?”
“Because TB is my best friend, so, of course, I’m coming,” replies Shannon.
“And I’m coming ‘cause I want to date the deputy.”
Clive quirks an eyebrow and looks at me.
I shrug and do up my seat belt. “Let’s get going. We’ve got a long drive.”
