13Parris

I was neverone to be tempted, but this temptress Garret had tucked away in his man's room was tempting beyond what I thought was possible.

I had spent the night after I had first bitten her pacing my room, trying to keep my focus on the plan Garret and I had come to. Keep her away from Aldric, find a way to harness her power, and stop Theon. But the more I thought of her, the more I thought of the taste of her blood and the way those purple eyes looked at me...

Purple eyes! I had never seen that color before, the vibrance of it. It was as though every emotion was looking back at me. I had dreamed of that color last night as I kept myself away from her.

Or, I would have, if I could sleep. Which was probably why I had raced to the hall outside her room as soon as I could the next day. I just needed to see her. To sit beside her. She was my Omega and all the animal instincts to be beside her, to protect her, were too strong.

So I had gone to her and felt the warmth of her skin. Tasted the sweetness of her slick. I had inhaled the vibrant aroma of her blood. It had taken everything in me to walk away. Not to taste her, to fuck her, to remind her who her Alpha was. Which was possibly why I was here now, perched at the end of the hall, staring at the tile that hid her door. That hid her.

"What are you doing?" I didn't even jump at the voice, I shouldn't be surprised to see him there after all.

"I could ask the same of you, Garret." I didn't even turn. "It seems we are here for the same reason. Can't stop thinking about her either. Thinking about fucking that tight--"

"No, you know I was never a fan of all this fucking and feasting. That was Aldric’s idea. And Theon’s.”

“Yes, but it sure is fun when you dive into it.” And so it had. Hundreds of years of fighting over the few Betas that came tumbling through the mountains would turn anyone into a sex-starved maniac.

Well, anyone but Garret.

“I was looking for Elliot," Garret cut me off with a sharp exhale. My fury instantly rose at the mention of his name.

"Trouble with your wolf boy?" I rolled my eyes. I never understood those two, and the fact that I agreed to keep his secret still boiled through me. Having one of the Fae creations here was dangerous. I never should have agreed to it. I should have told Aldric and let him take care of it, maybe I still would.

"He's not a wolf, and no... there's no trouble." He exhaled roughly, taking another glance down the hall before pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Yes, that seems truly believable." I should feel sorry for him, but he had made his bed long ago. "If you just need someone to fuck you in the ass I am sure we can find--"

"Shut up, Parris," Garret snarled, so low I turned back to him. "I know you don't like him, but I don't care. Everyone here just thinks of filling holes. Fucking holes. Beating holes. They never think of what is supposed to go with it. Of how we used to be before the Omegas were taken from us."

"But, Garret, life is about fucking. We fuck the Betas, giving them pleasure, and they feed us. Then when their blood tastes like ass we kick them out. It's how it's supposed to be." He really had gone off the deep end. I never should have let him get attached to that man. This is what came of connection. You are loyal to the kings and to your coven. That's it.

"No, it's not." Garret was still snarling, even though he seemed to have calmed. "We are Alphas. We are supposed to have Omegas to love and protect and care for. It's how we are all built. Hundreds of years of only having a few Betas at our disposal has addled our minds. It was survival, unless you went to the isle and found yourself a demon. Now, all you think of is pussy."

"Yeah, yeah." I waved him off. Garret did always tend to overthink, and I wasn't in the mood to listen to him ramble about how life used to be and how much he loves that Fae abomination.

How could I when she was so close? I swear If I focused I could hear her moan. Maybe she was touching herself. By the blood moon, what I wouldn't give to feel how tight she was. To make her moan. To hold her.

"Well, it seems that's all you used to think of," Garret laughed and I whirled. He wasn't moping anymore, he was staring at me, smiling with that knowing grin of his that always drove me crazy. "You sense it too?"

"Sense what?" I snapped, even as my stomach clenched. I knew exactly what he was talking about, and so did he.

All of his romanticizing of Omegas… he might not be that far off.

Garret might have been here looking for his wolf-boy, but it wasn't the only reason he had come to this hall. He was here for the same reason I was. I laughed, not caring if anyone heard, and leaned against the wall beside my brother.

"So much for your perfect fairytale. One bite and that Omega did you in. You want to fuck her as much as I do." I laughed, which sent Garret right back into a snarl.

“I don’t just want to fuck her.” Garret looked down the hall to the door, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Oh, so there was trouble in paradise,” I laughed, ignoring the weak scowl that Garret always gave me when I was right.

"I didn't expect this connection to be so strong." And my mopey brother was back. "I wouldn't have bid on her if I had--"

"You wouldn't have? Good lord, Garret, what is wrong with you?" I rounded on him, flattening him against the wall as I hissed. The hallway was empty, but I wasn't taking any chances of being overheard. Not about this. It was stupid to have this conversation in public, but with Garret moping around I didn't have another option. "I wouldn’t have been able to outbid Aldric without you, half of what I bid was your money. Without you Aldric would have her to himself. You know what he would have done to her?"

"Killed her? Taken off after Theon?" Why the hell didn't Garret seem concerned about this?
