“Maybe it was in that Fae history book, The Care and Feeding of Omegas.”

“Funny.” If he was a child, and he might be, he would have stuck his tongue out at me.

"I'm still stuck on the ‘why would he be hiding a list of Fae names’ question." Elliot looked up at me with wide eyes, his lips pulled into a tight line.

He was flickering again, rage boiling just under the surface, and I had a feeling I wasn't going to like what I heard. I didn't get a chance, the door swung open, both of us turning as a short blond female darted into the room.

"What the hell are you doing?" Dawn began before seeing that it was me sitting on the bed. Her anger turned to confusion, which promptly turned to horror as she twisted to the man who was suddenly trying to cover his junk.

"What are you...?" Dawn sputtered, even as Elliot straightened, hand still over his dick. "How are you...? You are supposed to be dead? What are you doing with...?" Dawn continued sputtering as she looked from me to Elliot and back again.

Her panic was bringing all of the spinning back. My eyesight faded, my heart sped up as I waited for whatever bomb was about to drop.

"What are you doing here, Christian?" Dawn finally managed, everything spinning more as I looked from Dawn to Elliot in confusion.

“Christian?” I shrieked, recognizing the name at once. I expected him to sputter and snarl or whatever people who deny things do.

He couldn’t be Christian, the Synian who had been with my brother, and then ended up dead. Elliot, however, just stood there smiling.

“Hey, Dawn. You know, as nice as it is to see you, and it is nice. This isn’t really the time for us to catch up and discuss who I am, or who you think I am, and what I am doing being alive, or here… this is not the time for that.”

“This is not the time for discussing what the fuck kind of games you are playing?” Dawn was snarling; Elliot, or Christian, or whoever he was, was grinning and I was looking between them like my eyes had turned into ping pong balls. The whole world seemed to be heavy and light and confusing all at once.

"Not now. Now, we have to go.” Elliot announced, his hand wrapping around my arm as he pulled me toward the door. His hand was so warm, warm and fuzzy… Just like the way he was looking at me with eyes like sugar and a smile that I wanted to taste. Just dip my tongue in and...

By the Fae! What was wrong with me?

“She's going into heat."

Elliot said it, but I already knew. And soon, so would everyone else, including the hallway of Synians who could probably already smell me.
