"Find her!"Elliot yelled somewhere to my left, not that I could see him with the amount of dust and ash that was clouding the room.

I pushed my hatred for the guy aside and followed his directions, hating that he had given the command first. Jaide needed our help, but she wasn't his mate. He needed to keep his damn mouth shut. Who knew how much trouble he had already caused.

Scowling, I narrowed my eyes, trying to see through the dust as screams and blasts echoed from all sides. I turned, sure I heard Jaide's soft scream, heard Aldric's snarl, but there was nothing but grey swirling dust. There were only the screams from dozens of others, Dawn's moans of panic blending with them and the absolute flood of stomping feet that was surrounding us.

The dust was beginning to clear, but it was revealing two even bigger problems.

The stomping feet belonged to an army of Synians as blood-covered as Dawn had been, all of them plastered to the far wall of the room, or what was left of it. The back wall had been blown out, the bed and part of the floor fallen into the courtyard below. A section of ceiling had tumbled alongside, the inhabitants of the room above screaming in panic at their suddenly missing floor.

At the sunlight that was streaming in through the missing wall. I could already feel it against my skin, the heat digging into my cold flesh like a burn. The sun was not deadly, but it was unpleasant and if exposed to it too long that burning sensation I was feeling now would lead to deep burns that would open up my body in gashes that could not be healed. It was a slow painful death.

"Well, this is shit," Garret mumbled as he took his place beside me, his eyes scanning over the army, looking for the same thing I was. "She's not here."

Dawn gave him a look from where she had moved to stand between us, the rubber dick Jaide had been planning on using held out like a gun before her. A yes, fake cum from a fake dick is the best weapon. Poor thing looked like she was about to wet herself.

"Where is she then?" I asked, my voice garbled as my fangs descended to their full length, warning the Synians what was coming for them. Just how ready I was to rip their heads from their bodies to find her.

We were outnumbered, but I was not going to let that stop me. I would protect her to my end.

Wait. What the fuck was I saying.

I sounded like my lovesick brother. And I felt it too.

"Elliot's gone too." Garret didn't need to say more than that. He had taken her, that bastard that I never should have let linger in these halls. The backstabbing traitor had taken my mate. My rage pulled to the surface, the boiling fury propelling me toward the wall of Synians who clearly hadn't just walked in to see if we were okay after the explosion.

Dawn's broken description of the massacre was only the start of what was going on. The trouble we were in. Dozens of our people lined the walls, Theon and Aldric's men intermingled with some of my own, some of Garret and I's pack who had chosen to save their skins rather than remain loyal. I stared each of them down, memorizing their faces. Loyalty was valued. They would be the first ones I killed.

"A coup, Aldric? Really?" I snarled as he stepped into the center of his army. "Did you really need to resort to such vial tactics?"

"You kept my mate from me. My Omega." Aldric’s fangs pulled down as he spoke, his snarl increasing with each inch, with each shade of black his eyes dropped.

He looked creepy as hell. Poor guy actually thought we were going to be shaking in our boots over here.

"Well, first. She wasn't your mate. She was all of ours. Didn't your mommy teach you to share?" I said, before Garret got a word in. He was sure to give some kind of pussy footed speech about love and propriety.

"She was mine, and you pulled me from her when I was to take her." Aldric’s voice shook the air, the unstable floor rattling as balls of light began to form in his palms. Dawn shrieked at the movement, the dick she was holding tumbling to the ground before she retrieved it.

"You would have killed her," Garret said, lifting his hands and showcasing his own power, the drops of lightning looking almost like fountains from his fingertips. I followed their lead, knowing full well that my hands were glowing like I had shoved a lightbulb underneath my skin. Of all the magical do-dahds that Jaide's blood handed out, I glowed like a fucking glow stick.

"She would have been mine to do so," the balls of light in Aldric’s hands were growing. "I have decided I would no longer like to share."

"So you decided to kill our covens and overthrow us instead?" Garret took a step forward, closer to the beams of light that were growing in number as more and more of the dust cleared.

"Yes. But to be fair I would have eventually. We were never meant to be ruled by four kings. We had one king, one ruler, and we will again." He was ranting like a mad man, his black eyes somehow bright in the sun even though there was no color there. "Lillith died for the Omega's but do you even know why? Do you even know what they are so important? Do you even know their true power? I do."

"You do?" That's it, he was rambling like a mad man.

"Yes," the smile that stretched his face made him look like he was cutting himself in half, as though the madness in his eyes was taking over completely. "I was the one who went into the island when we were trapped in Syn. I was the one who saw what was there. I was the one who brought it all back."

He had hit a new level of madness.

"What are you talking about?" Garret asked, the two of us exchanging a glance. He looked just as confused as I was. I knew that Aldric had left Syn a hundred years ago to find us an escape, he had tried to cross the bay of blood to reach the dragons, but he had not made it. He had washed up on the shore two days later.

"I am talking about our true purpose. About why Healynas banished us to Syn. He was sending us home." He raised his arms like he was some kind of God prophesizing to his followers. His followers, however, were starting to look just as confused as Garret and I did. Yeah guys, you clearly chose to follow a mad man. Good for you!

I guess that was a bed that they were just going to have to lie in. Or die in.
