If this is how all Fae were then maybe them and the Synians going to was wasn’t such a huge deal.

"No, you wouldn't. I am sure my Sylph can teach you though. I am sure he can teach you many things," he smiled at me, but it was clear he wasn't looking at me. He was looking at something far past me; at the twist of warm wind I had left far behind. "Like, how to summon your powers, and how to unlock the gates."

His smile stretched as he stepped toward me, those purple eyes looking down on me like a twenty ton weight.

"I wonder how much you already know," he spoke to me like a lover, his voice soft as he came closer, his feet not even making an impression in the soft dirt. "I wonder how much you can master. Only when your power has fully revealed will you be able to kill Jett."

"Kill Jett?” Did he just stab me or something, because I was pretty sure my entire life had just been sucked through a whole in my chest. “I will never kill Jett!”

That time I broke through whatever was keeping me in place, Healynas twisted smile snapping into a scowl as he rushed me.

"You will. You will kill him, or he will kill you. You'll see. I already have." Riddled with nonsense.

I would have called him out on it, but he cut off anything I had been about to say with a hiss, his purple eyes drifting into slits as he leaned over me. What the fuck? I tried to step back, but the guy was now in full demon status. There was no way in hell he was letting that happen.

"You're first lesson," he whispered, his hand wrapping around my wrist. "The punishment for betraying your blood."

The smile grew, his free hand pushing the long strands of my grey hair behind my ear before his magic flare, before the ground exploded below me and sent me ten feet into the air. My body caught in the wind, caught in the power that the Fae king pressed against me.

The magic that was sending me hurdling over the side of the mountain and into the nothing below.

"Elliot!" I screamed his name, but was sure he didn't hear me. Not with the sound of my screams.

Not over the sound of the wind.
