“I will never doubt you again.”

I looked around to see that Drayven had decimated all the Sirens around us.

“We need to get you back to the ship, Lilith. Where you will be safe. The city is falling.”

He was right. It was still chaos all around us, and if we were going to survive, we needed to get out of there.

“Flipp, come with me,” Xagon called to me.

I looked over at him and shook my head. “I’m staying with Drayven. I will see you on the ship.”

With that, Drayven grabbed my hand, and we started moving towards the ship. Azil and Xagon were right behind us. Just before we got to the ship, Sirens appeared in front of us again, standing in a line, blocking us from the ship.

One stepped forward and came at Drayven. He held his hands out, and to my utter surprise, ice came out of his fingers.

“Oh my God,” I whispered. He was just like me. Much in the same way that I could shoot fire from my fingers, he could shoot ice. He covered the Siren completely in ice, freezing it to the spot. The Siren was completely blue in an unnatural way. A few of the Sirens turned and ran, while a few more approached Drayven. Xagon moved forward and started fighting one with the spear in his hands. They were fighting together, and I had never seen anything more beautiful.

Drayven created a spear out of ice and stabbed it through the temple of the Siren, dropping him instantly. Xagon had another on the ground, spearing him. The rest of the Sirens fled, and Drayven grabbed my hand again as we ran towards the ship. We got up on the dock and jumped onto the ship.

Azil screamed at the crew members to get onboard and raise the anchor. Everyone moved at once, working together to get the ship ready to go. There was a pirate Siren trying to get on the ship, moving towards me, and Xagon knocked him off into the water.

“Move,” he yelled at the crew, wanting them to work faster. The anchor was above water now and the Sirens were getting the sails up and ready to go. The ship started moving away from the docks, and I collapsed on the deck, exhausted. Drayven bent down in front of me, pushing hair out of my eyes. “Are you okay, Queen?”

I wanted to ask him to stop calling me that, but I didn’t have the energy.

We were well on our way, and I could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Suddenly, Drayven was being surrounded by Sirens from the crew. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I got up from the ground.

“You have to be kidding me. He saved our lives. We would be dead if it wasn’t for him. He is not going back in a cage.” I stepped towards the Sirens, no longer afraid of them. “Why don’t you do something useful for once, like get him a decent meal.”

The Sirens stared at me, anger in their eyes, but a little more shocked that I was standing up to them.

Azil laughed and started clapping as he walked towards us. “She’s right. Drayven proved to be a true warrior and saved my life today. He is a guest on this ship, and will be treated as such. Getting him a fine meal is a great idea.” He shooed away a few crew members, sending them to the kitchen.

I breathed a sigh of relief. Drayven left me as once the members brought him food. They would plan a grand meal that evening to celebrate their victory. The drinks would be pouring endlessly all night. I hoped it was going to be the last I heard about the Demon Queen. Our travels were almost over, and I wondered where my new life was about to take me.

Xagon approached me and sat down beside me. “Are you okay, Flipp? You look pretty banged up.”

I smiled. “I’ve had better days.”

He looked me over, and touched the blood that was drying on my neck. “Come with me, little monster. Let’s get you cleaned up.”

I nodded. I got up and followed Xagon below deck.
