It only hit me then that we had strayed far from where my Synians had remained as they waited for us. “Let's go back,” I called out, knowing Elliot was near.

Instead of answering, he wrapped himself around me again in that warm, comforting wind of his again, and I allowed him to pull me down, down, through the trees until finally we landed with a soft plop in a mossy clearing.

“They'll catch up to us.” He popped up in front of me, grinning from ear to ear. “You've gotten almost too good at that.”

“Is there such a thing as being ‘too good’ at flying? Or is that your way of admitting I'm faster than you are?” I was grinning just like he did because let's face it, that was a rush and a half. “If anything, it reflects on what a good teacher you are.”

He surprised me by catching my waist and pulling me close. This was different. This was new. Elliot taking the initiative. I didn't hate it, not even close. If anything, it was like the fulfillment of what had been brewing all along. Like flying, it felt right, even if I hadn’t known it was possible for most of my life.

“Is this a problem?” he asked, eyes darting over my face while our bodies fitted against each other.

“I don't know. Is it? Do you know a lot more about this than I do? How things work?”

“I'm not the one to ask about that, not when it comes to this. Nothing about Garret and me makes sense, either,” he answered.

The touch of his hands, his warmth, his delicious scent—all of it was doing things to me. I didn't want to think or theorize. Not when the heat between my legs signaled the approach of my slick.

I wanted him. And if the familiar sensations now buzzing inside me were any clue, I was going to have him. Nothing was going to stop me.
