Alan and I get Taj into the car. On the way to the hospital, something goes wrong. Taj suddenly begins shaking like he’s having a seizure. I turn him on the side.
“Alan hurry,” I cry.
“Taj please. I’m begging you, don’t leave me. You can’t leave me. Please be okay,” I say through tears.
A minute later, he falls unconscious. I cradle his head in my lap.
“I love you so much, please don’t die,” I whisper.
We arrive at the hospital and Taj is rushed into the emergency room.
The surgery takes five hours. Roman and the other guys meet us there. They have a few cuts and bruises but nothing too serious. They assure us that the robbers have been taken care of.
I only breathe easier when the doctor comes out of the operating room. He assures us that Taj will be fine. The bullet wound was infected but they were able to take care of it. He also had a few broken ribs but apart from that, he’s okay.
Alan wraps his arm around me as I begin to cry. Tears of relief this time because the man I love is going to be okay. That’s all that matters.
